    12 week unlocks...

Not even after content is beaten, but after previous unlocks. Also, in black and white:

"This is a server for players that want to move through the content faster than the previous progression servers have allowed."

I think the XP should stay as it is, but DBG definitely should have disclosed that they were radically adjusting the XP curve back when they announced the release date or put out the FAQ.

I know several RF/LJ's who were planning to transfer to Phinny, but just couldn't handle three months of classic (following the previous six) and leveling up again at such a slow pace. While it may piss off customers, it may ultimately be for the best, as RF/LJ populations will stay a bit healthier (though they should still be merged in a year or so).

This is supremely frustrating. I played for almost 4 hours last night and took my necro from 1 to 3 with a 25% exp pot. It would go slightly faster with less people in the zone, but I am nonplussed with this decision. I just don't understand:

    1. Why this massive experience drop wasn't mentioned prior to release of the server.

    2. Why such a huge disparity between this and other TLP servers was necessary

    3. Why, at the very least, they couldn't speed up the first 5-10 levels a bit to get people invested.

I'm not trying to be a drama queen. I'm genuinely disappointed. This change barely affects those with massive amounts of time or organized groups of friends but really sticks it to those of us with less time to play.

You realize that's proving you wrong, right?

Slowing down exp is the exact opposite of moving through content faster.

Recap: those defending Phinny's answer for the fast paced and 66% xp reduction on Phinny is to go to the poop-socking server of RF and LJ. Yup those are SUPER "casual" friendly. Basically DBG is saying if you have any of the following you don't qualify for in-era raiding: family, job, or a life. Once again the 99% has been F'd over by launching a 3rd server for the hardcore elites. /golfclap

And do you realize your argument doesn't actually make sense?

That is a quote from daybreak. It can't prove itself wrong. Nor is it proving the server is not for hardcores, somehow.

This point cannot be stressed enough. Just look at the hyperbole thrown about in this thread...

Actually, playing a character at 105 on live is far more difficult than anything the current TLP servers will have to offer for quite a long time. Not only does every class have tons more abilities on live, they also need to keep dozens of AA and disc timers in mind. Additionally, non-trivial mobs do far more damage relative to player health, so there's less time to react when you need to hit that key button.

And as striking as those differences are, they don't even come close to the contrast in raid difficulty. Aside from a few choice encounters, the amount of coordination and skill needed to complete raids up until GoD is laughable compared to just about every expansion afterward. Yes, GoD and onward - the point at which so many of you who pine for the 'classic, difficult EQ' quit every time around.

You're grinding predictable mobs - most of which have no relevant abilities - in 15+ year old zones you know back to front, and somehow this qualifies as a "challenge"? The fact they're making you kill twice as many as you otherwise would have to isn't a challenge. And it certainly isn't difficult. It's a timesink, busywork.

Don't get me wrong, it's fine if that's your thing - grinding. EQ was certainly heavy on the grinding, back in the day. Just don't run around acting as if it somehow equates to difficulty, eh?

I feel like a fool for assuming that this server would be good. They made the server sound great. Instanced raids, 1 client per computer, set expansion releases.

All of it sounds great no mention what so ever of an EXP nerf for this server so naturally assume it's going to be same exp rate as LJ/RF.

Play and it's a noticeable exp slow down there was no mention of this what so ever no clue giving a sign of it but after the server launches and people notice right away they quickly change the FAQ.

An EXP change on a server is something you mention not hide until the server launches it's a flat out scam to get people to buy EXP potions. There is no way to defend this, people naturally thought it was going to be the same EXP.

How do you say this is a server for people who want to move faster and then lower the EXP rate. Scam is written all over this and it's flat out insulting to the player base.

This exp rate is great. Two levels this morning already. Sucks how it all worked out. Casuals ruined the experience on Ragefire. And now you can't keep up on a server designed for you.

Two WHOLE levels? In only one morning?! Amazing! Sounds like a real blast.

Well when I am the highest level player on the server. It is pretty impressive.

XP rate is great. It's clearly intended to refocus people on one main. Xp rate, account wide raid lockouts, and true boxing all combine to funnel people into focusing on one character. This means we can recapture some of that original group and community based game play. Yup, now you get to spend a few days in a zone getting to know your fellow adventurers, try a few different camps, and make some friends.

On Ragefire, especially with pots, you could blow through an entire dungeons content in an afternoon. I played casually and after maxing my first toon, had 3 alts all 35-45 without really trying hard. Having weight to the levels actually feels like I'm working towards something again, instead of bum rushing and not giving a about the power gains from each level. Hitting level 5 and unlocking Selo's felt awesome, instead of being level 12 and not giving a after spending an hour in Befallen like on Ragefire.

And honestly, the raid design its boring as until Velious anyway. In classic and kunark, leveling IS the content. And guess what, you'll be 60 and ready to jump into raiding soon as Velious comes out!

Daybreak went above and beyond what they have ever done in the past to make this server more in line with classic ideals. Cry all you want, but code that is stopping third party software, devs who are checking up on fast leveling groups and a slower exp curve. Is what a large amount of the forum posts before every TLP wanted.
  18. MBear Augur

That was a very appropriate post #600!
  19. xakanrn Augur

you be shocked to hear there are loads with even less playtime then you!
  20. Elkay Augur

Most of what they did is good. XP nerf combined with 84 automatic unlocks completely ruins that. It defeats the purpose, as someone that plays 3 hours a night 5 nights a week (hardly casual) will barely hit level cap by the 84 days, if even hit it at all. In era raiding is out the door.
