You guys are really good gamers and roleplayers. Can you just use your imaginations. Why don't you "start over" new characters on an existing server? Players: What? Think about how far we'd already be behind?! DPG: Behind...what? I thought the point was a fresh start. Players: And -obviously- there would be no one to group with at low levels! DPG: I mean, it seems like there are lots of you wanting a new TLP... Players: Oh yes! So many of us hope for this soon! DPG: So...if you all banded together. You could just start over on Aradune (or wherever). And since there are so many of you who want this....couldn't you all just group...together? Players: ... DPG: We're confused anyway, because a number of you are also very passionate about boxing, not grouping with other players. Players: Oh my goodness, do we ever love to box! DPG: Right, you want to start over. On a server with everyone the same level as you. So you can box your way through the game? Players: Oh, we hate that Truebox tho! We want to box `All The Things` on one PC! It's more environmentally sustainable too! DPG: Gotcha. So you want to start in Classic, and do all this boxing stuff. Have you heard you can just run your own EQ server from home? Boxers: Well sure. But there wouldn't be other humans with us. We get ever-so-lonely. DPG: In your 6-man box group, while watching Hulu, and posting on Instagram. Players: Yeah bro! You get our feels! It's hard to get a group sometimes, ya know? Oh, we also expect a FV ruleset this time...you promised! DPG: We did no such thing. Players: You totally did! Holly said so before she left. DPG: So...about that FV ruleset thing. We're concerned. We think it might lead to certain areas being perma-camped. Lots of "accidental" trains and harrasment. Generally less fun. Players: But...but...freedom! Also, it's cool because I was the person planning to perma-camp stuff this time, then sell on the Bazaar. DPG: I mean, it's not physically possible for -all- of you to camp a single spawn... Players: Oh yeah, that reminds us! We want AOCs everywhere, and reduced lockouts!! DPG: So...you'll be boxing. While watching Netflix. In separate instances. To get all the loot you need, without being interrupted by other players. Players: You understand our motivations precisely! Can we have some bonus XP too?! DPG: So...you can level faster? Players: Oh yesss. DPG: To achieve max-level and AAs more quickly? Players: You comprehend our goals and objectives, yes. DPG: Wouldn't that mean....you'd be done with this whole "starting over" thing...much faster? Players: ... DPG: Once you've boxed your way to max level and AA. Collected all the loot from AOCs. Done your raids. Leveled your alts. Then what's your game plan? Players: Time for a new TLP? DPG: OMG, FFS why would you ever want that??!! Players: Well...I mean probably next time... ...it will feel so much different and better?
thank god every person that plays eq dosent play it the same way and at the end of the day dpg his a busniss a new tlp means more revenue also got to rembeber a lot if eq players are getting older an have more time to play and miss everquest,bring on a new tlp.picks aoc and boxing also remember a lot of people socialise on raids.
Stupid people like new TLPs because they think this will be the one they aren't a left-behind burnout alt-obsessed baddy. OP does an overly wordy roleplay that beats the joke into the ground, playing out a pretend conversation between those people and DPG, where DPG is a fictional company that is interested in their players and have a plan extended past the current quarter.

Seasonal TLPs, plz. New server every 3-4 months. Free transfer token given to all chars at month 2. 'Graveyard' live server collects characters once server reaches live. Some theme ideas: Private /picks No dz/task timers Guaranteed named Names drop all loots Rapid respawn Super HME regen All buffs permanent No req lvl on gear
Lol. One thing is for sure, we often don't know exactly what we really want. I think a lot of the TLP hoppers that only play classic through Velious would be surprised how amazing the game is during some of the later eras, and how easy it is to get caught up. TSS through Underfoot is my personal favorite era of EQ, and we have a TLP coming up on that in a few weeks (Mangler). I get way more excited that a TLP is coming up on TSS than hearing a new TLP is releasing.
The people everywhere through kunark and velious is my favorite part. The game feels so populated and alive. Also, despite having done almost every epic and many several times, I always feel like a king when I finish my epic.
