EverQuest should be delivered with rudimentary maps

Good had a twitch stream up I believe during CoV beta showing how he makes the maps using the map tool, I watched maybe 10 minutes of his stream. Based on what I saw, he could put the maps behind a $50/yr paywall and I'd give him the money no questions asked, it's a huge amount of work. Brewall is doing the same amount of work too, and both should get all the credit in the world for keeping this important aspect of the game going.
Elyssanda, Nennius and Fenthen like this.

Yea back when i first started playing the first thing i would do is master sense heading lol was so easy to get lost back in the day with no maps basically. I use good's maps brewall's maps are good too.

I miss the days of sense heading skill not being maxed - and dropping a dagger to tell North. Was it just any weapon dropped would always face north, or was it something specific, like a rusty? I don't remember, but it was cool...

    Exploit!

For outdoor zones you did not need the dagger. Basically any weapon should work
but a rusty or stackable one was the safest method to not get robbed by other players.
It was easier to just look upwards. Clouds always moved from west to east.

The point of including maps in the expansion is not to replace player made maps. It is to help the less computer savvy players in EQ so they can jump into the expansion without figuring out how to download and install maps. But if you were going to improve the existing maps, if they were packaged into an executable that could find the everquest directory and create a map folder and load the files into it, that would be an improvement over what is currently available.

Who doesn't know how to drag files into a folder but gets the idea to play Everquest? Someone show me proof of a real person

As long as Goodes or Brewall is still doing it thats fine. I honestly doubt anyone will if they were ever to leave. Its not something easy to do. Unless there is a secret trick I dont know about.

There are map packs, so that work is done for the developers with no resource investment, but a bare bones map should be part of every expansion.
