Don't know if you are going to see this maybe almost a year later but worth a shot Just thought i would send ya something saying hello Warcord I remember you... This is Twiztin Rymes from LoD!

I would just like to say thanks for this guide. It has allowed me to solo effectively for the first time and I am no longer group dependent. In fact very often I can get more AA per hour charm kiting than I can with a mediocre group.

The only downside to the charm kite method is that I spend so much time running in circles around my mobs I literally get dizzy sometimes.

    Thanks again HolaHola!

Hi Twiztin, I remember you. I've been playing on and off on tunare... nothing substantial but keep an eye out and hit me up if you're still playing good sir!

Jerus thank you for the tip. I remember playing with a bard by your name when I was on Vazaelle/Maelin, either in Eternal Advocates or Caer Cadarn.... but that was probably over 10 years ago, so probably not even worth mentioning haha.

Holahola, thanks also for the help!

    COUPLE OF THINGS TO ADD:
charm kiting songs were nerfed somewhere between 75-89. So don't even think about. Check your song distance on ZAM, if it says 30 your screwed.

Here's how I charm kite, most efficiently.... PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY!

    Things needed:
    4 dots
    Selos
And this ring ( or similar item, it must have a casting time of zero )
    http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=1653
( I posted a lengthy updated write up on how to acquire it ) which can be found here for the Courrier:
    http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/npc.html?id=5327

    ............................KEYBOARD LAYOUT, UNDER TARGETING..................
    CYCLE THROUGH NEAREST NPC , I set mine as ( F8 )
TOGGLE BETWEEN LAST TWO TARGETS , i set mine as TAB

    HOTKEYS:
    1. Title: REST
    ...line1: /melody (selos) , ( heal regen )

    2. Title: BATTLE
    ...LINE 1: /melody ( dot fire ) ( dot poison ) ( dot cold ) ( dot disease )

    3. PET ATTACK ( just drag the pet attack HOTKEYS here )

    4. Goblin ring ( just drag that ring into this slot )

    5. Charm song ( by itself )

    DETAILED EXPLANATION:
Go grab a horde with selos on, turn around and select a new mob (F8) , charm it ( 5 ) , now keep running and then select a new mob ( F8 ) , now sick your pet on it! ( 3 ) ....

Now your pet is dying... We need to re acquire our targets!
PRESS (F1 ) 3 times! .....(select yourself, then your pet, then yourself )
!!! We must do this because u have to target yourself to activate the CLICKY INVIS!!!
!!! While having yourself targeted , CAREFULLY WATCH your pets health !!!

How to know your a bad/-\ss; ( timing of your pets death )
Most zones I do swarms in get laggy, especially Feerott, The Dream when I am charm swarming the undead gorillas by the rathe zone line with my level 90 charm song. The timing is tricky because u can actually watch when the mobs hit your pet and then there is a delay between when u actually see it on your pets health bar. I ALWAYS WATCH THE VISUALLY CUES AND MY PETS HEALTH BAR. Your target should be your pets health between 5% and 12%. If you think your in the sweet spot ( you should still have yourself targeted ) press (4)!

    INVIS BROKE YOUR PET, RUN!
    Now press ( TAB )
!!! If you did this correctly and your awesome: you should no longer have a pet, the pet u just dismissed is now your target, and his health is under 10% !!!

    FINISH HIM, FATALITY!
    Press ( 2 )
Kill of this mob with your dots and whalla! You just killed a mob by yourself while only doing 10% damage!

    DONT FORGET YOUR SELOS
press ( 1 ) every 3 minutes so your selos doesn't run out

HERES WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE AT NORMAL SPEED:
    1..... ( selos )
    F8....( select new target )
    5......( charm it )
    F8....( select new target )
3......( send pet in to attack it )
    F1....( select self )
F1....( selects pet, so we can save for later )
F1....( select self to prepare for INVIS )
4......( pet is at 10% health, so we INVIS now )
    TAB.( select old pet )
2......( kill our old pet who now only has 10% health )

    COUPLE OF NOTES:
    1. Do not use FADING MEMORIES, except when ending this swarm session
-- you'll only have to gather your horde up again
-- fading memories won't break charm anyways
    2. Do not use a MERC; they will just eat up your xp and their heals will draw aggro.
    3. Same thing with players and power leveling; no beneficial buffs, no heals! Period!

    Sincerely,

    Tigertone Swarmsazone

Wanting to bump this up for some more information...

Whats good spots (per level) to do this?

    85-90 ish
    90-95 ish
    95-100 ish

    Map, Mobs ?

as always grouping > soloing, but to avoid sitting in the GL these are the places i use to go.

85-90 ish Loping Plains (croc's on the beach) is a bit low level but a great place to learn to solo
(lvl 89 charm) - toskriak - ogre groups after the tunnel
also convortium is said to be an option but I never tried
Alkabor's Nightmare- at the zone line, avoid halflings as they summon and snakes seemed to have a longer melee range than the rest of the animals there. But now that is an unlocked zone its a good option.

    90-95ish
(94 charm)Valley of Lunanyn- farmers or guards in the north half (probably my favorite place to solo in VoA), rats in the south half are a little tougher but also an option
Beasts Domain- south area crocs are charmable but I never liked this place, too many uncharmable or summoning adds. some say the pups of war instance is also an option, but i never tried it.

95-100 ish Shards Landing- lots of choices here, and decent xp, just hard to stay out of peoples way. Other than that I have never tried any soloing in RoF or CotF, boxing/grouping quests was just too good xp to want to go back to swarm kiteing

Thanx! I'll give it a try!

Once you get your 90ish charm song... Goto Feerot #2, The Dream and go charm kite Gorillas on the zone wall exit. Just be careful of the occasional spawn of the named gorilla.

Just a few additional tips i worked out for upcoming bards kind of basic but here goes.

If your charming a mob you can stand next to it cast charm then hit fade right away see if charm lands waiting to hit fade again. This lets you pick up an initial pet with very low risk you can then send it into a pack to get beat if you have the ring you can use that to break charm when its low hp or if you have our aa group invis aa that will work to.

Note fade does not break charm

Also next tip if your going for a mass kite you can aggro a bunch and use our group DA song to wait for the mobs to gather and beat you and set up the kite from there they will be packed nice and tight.

In addition to dots and pet on pet murder you can also use selo's kick you dont have to face to have it go off just be in range i find this is good at the end of the kite if you have 2 mobs and one starts walking at low hp..

    Hope these tips help.

Happy Barding oh and rock out to bodies hit the floor at least once while cluster charm kiting.
