Mission: Heroes Are Forged

Since the slime is dead before the spider goes active, the only way to pop the sacs before adds spawn (and fails the achievement) is by using pets. Yes?
We found that the shaman pet could only get it to 50-75% life before the spider spawned and removed the web wall. We got lucky a few times and the spider queen spawned on top of herself, allowing us to plow the egg as it appeared.

Have any others had luck with this not using a mage pet to kill the egg sacs?

The mission proceeds with no hiccups without ever attacking an egg sac.

You may have missed the original post that I made. You won't ever receive the achievement this way.

This can be done without pets and ranged attacks.

We did this achievement earlier with a group without any kind of pet class (and all melee except for the healer).

Our strategy was to just post one person in each of the four spots the spider can port to as soon as the slime dies. If you're in the room before the spider ports there, you won't be kicked out. They stay there for the duration of the spider phase, while the tank and healer stay in the middle and slow roll the spider.

Each player is responsible for killing the egg if it pops there. The eggs have very little HP, so one person should not have a problem beating it down (when it was my turn, as a warrior, the egg died instantly from a Brightfield's Onslaught + Rampage).

The spider is inactive while the eggs are up, so no worry about tanking anything while killing the eggs. Just make sure your tank is on the ball moving around to grab her as soon as the egg dies.

Eggs seem to have stupidly high regen.

This is basically the answer. It's not the way it was designed to work, but it's the only real functional method without pets.
