Eat a Krono for exp?

Discussion in 'Time Locked Progression Servers' started by SnapVine, Jan 11, 2024.

I think the numbers proposed are low. More like, add a POK NPC that grants an 85 Heroic for Kronos.

A player was behind the keyboard guildies also gave us account info so they could get flags when they were working... back then there were no anti boxing tools... my bottom line if it doesn't affect you no big deal.

This would be fine provided they add the caveat that people had to level 1 character to max lvl first.

How does EQ know I have other accounts? Does it check other servers? What if I was max level at 70 but not today?
  5. OldTimeEQ1 Augur

There is a reason account sharing was never condoned. Every server ezboard had horror stories and flamewars about chars being stripped or accounts ebayed (esp. Top raid geared ones).

This is excluding the threads about people selling their accounts and then reclaiming it a month later with original Infosys...but that's a different story.

Krono for xp would kill EQ

People don't want direct pay for play.

A small percentage will want it and a larger segment will just stop playing.

Also this nonsense wouldn't even be wanted if they didn't keep nerfing XP gain points, like xp per kill, degrading instance XP and so on. It is a shell game to sell pots and falsely tweak the time players spend in game to be better monetized.

They don't WANT us leveling faster. They keep chipping away at easy level paths- to sell Krono by frustrating players.

This thread is carrying water for them.

If so then why have people been paying to level, and for gear, since 1999?

In the words of Elrond, I was there the day the strength of men failed... and it was 25 years ago

to be clear i have no problem with it, play the game in the way you enjoy
  9. Indigo_Quarmite Augur

Clearly you haven't played a TLP.

90% of the population is using 3rd party bot crews for PL services after the initial rush to 50/60.

100% they need a solution to cut out the middle man (the botters).

A better question, how does someone else leveling fast hurt you?
  11. Joules_Bianchi A certain gnome

not against PLs, very against a game company structuring buy xp to win game.

Pretty clear distinction you're trying to skip past.

Un nerfing kill xp and other xp friendly policies would go a long way to reduce this.

So would actually enforcing rules on automation.

This isn't a Wargaming franchise, this is Everquest.

Go quest. Go play the game. if it is too hard for you, that you need to buy success, you're a loser. i see many players who do not PL at all make the raid grade in less than an expansion duration on live and on TLPs, which I play on several.

Pfft lmao that more krono sales would reduce botting.

Naiive at best, disingenuous in truth.

Krono are working exactly the way that they were designed to work which is exactly the way that DBG wants them to. DBG/DPG gain exactly nothing by having anyone click a Krono for <x> amount of XP. You are able to pay them to boost a character to level 85 or 100, that's "new" money not a Krono that someone else already paid for.

Put yourself in the PoV of Daybreak and seriously consider this sort of suggestion and ask "what's in it for me?" . The answer would be absolutely nothing
  13. FranktheBank Augur

I agree with the first part of your post, but the second part is obvious. Consuming krono is a very big upside. (Not that I think this idea would ever be implemented).
  14. code-zero Augur

No, actually there's no upside to allowing a Krono to directly convert into experience.

I have an alt that I have literally leveled from 120 to 125 on nothing but overseer tasks
  15. Andarriel Everquest player since 2000

Yea overseer is great but very slow.

TLPs are pay to win, period. You can level and buy all the best loot for krono, and the people selling these services are suspect at best in terms of how they do it. Its also overt in every chat channel, not more "underground" and frowned upon like it would have been 15 years ago. All we're really discussing here is who gets paid, DBG or someone else. The game will stay pay to win either way.
  17. Tachyon Augur

define "win", for me it's having fun playing a game... if it's making one toon, earning your own gear via grouping and raiding... occasionally paying to catch up AAs (basically my game)... id rather pay DB than some third party... you are skipping past the fact that it's gonna happen, the question is who do you pay

i may have payed for 50 AAs (autogrant?), but i earned my epic 2.0

Are those two statements supposed to be related? The upside is actual consumption of krono...
  19. Indigo_Quarmite Augur

    100% agree.

If krono is consumed then there is less krono in circulation which will result in a gain in krono sales.

Currently the game is in a vicious cycle. Old existing kronos that people have banked get spent on PL services to 3rd party cheaters, who then RMT the kronos, and then the kronos get used for PL services to the same people who just RMT'd them, this doesn't help DPG generate new sales.. I guess this is why they allow those people to cheat though as they have to burn krono to keep all their bot accounts active.

They NEED kronos to be consumed to generate new sales.

What if... hear me out... Krono had a timer on them, so they had to be used within say 7 days or 14 days?
