Dislike button for the new forums...

No need to guess as it is very likely going to be the same as the EQ2 forums which also got it as part of their upgrade.

It never ceases to amaze me how much time they spend on EQ2, when nobody plays it.

Do they show actual numbers anywhere or are you just guesstimating? This is something I wonder about.

What's to stop someone from creating 20 EQ accounts and using it to like or dislike their own posts or posts they don't like?

I have a feeling that the dislike button will backfire when you see the same people disliking all the time.

EQ2 is like the spoiled child that gets all the attention from mom and dad. Even the FippyFest EQ2 Q & A panel had a completely different vibe than the EQ panel. They just seemed to be more enthusiastic. I can understand from an art perspective why artists would rather work on EQ2 as the graphics engine is far more capable. Also, EQ2 looks far better at an investor relations presentations than EQ1.

It's one thing to put money aside for research and development. But EQ players have been subsidizing EQ2 players for 20 years now. I just don't understand the logic behind this.

FoH is a place for rugged individuals who enjoy vigorous discussion.

But this forum would be elevated by both worfs and smoothbrain reactions.

There's definitely a place for unvarnished strong opinions about MMORPGs. I wager even the EQ devs visit on occasion, especially after they did the AMA over there.

You actually CARE if someone "likes" or "dislikes" a post? Grow up.

The ONLY function for "likes" is the bug forum where they ask us to like bugs so they can roughly prioritize which bugs to work on.

Fee free to dislike every post I ever post on the new forums. SO WHAT? I keep thinking that the lowest common denominator can't get lower on these forums, and I'm regularly surprised when it does.

I don't care if people like or dislike my posts. I do care if there is a system in place where I could be banned from the forums cause Joe Schmo and Suzy Q create enough fake accounts to dislike enough posts to cause an automated system forum ban because of too many dislikes.

That is the root issue. And I would guess you may care if you logged into the forums and saw you were banned because someone doesn't like ROI (assuming you are still with ROI)...

They can already do that with the report button.

Was not aware the report caused forum bans. I thought it highlighted a post and a mod would look at it and review/edit if necessary. Enough edits would trigger a suspension/ban but I thought that was a human doing that. From what people have have said, this dislike button supposedly could trigger a ban from a computer system

I have personally been banned via the report button, and I never saw any of the supposedly reported posts, so I still have no way of knowing why I was banned. Our CM has told me "it was done automatically using a point system" [undocumented]. The concern is that the dislike button can be used to further automate this process, without the CM knowing what's going on. They want to minimize the CM's time spent monitoring the forums as much as possible.

This is just accounting trickery to apportion All-Access revenue across each game based on registered accounts found one one or more servers for each game. The numbers don't match because the Total account numbers count F2Ps. It would be much more on point to compare total paid work hours per game to total subscribers per game, but they have not, and in all probability will not, release that data.

People say a lot of things that they really have no idea whether they are true. But if reporting doesnt cause bans then downvotes certainly wont. And if downvotes do cause bans (really doubtful) then reporting must as well.

I really don't care if you don't believe me. Our CM, for everyone who uses this forum, is Angeliana. I am no different from the rest. If you don't even know our CM is a woman, than you'er clearly not paying attention.

We all know one person who posts in every thread adding no value, posting inane run on sentences, doubling down on some irrelevant thing throughout the thread till others fet tired of losing brain cells and leave the thread. This is on TLP forums, and they post here occasionally.

My money is on that same person using report function vigorously. I for one would like a dislike button ( like many others on TLP forums) just for his posts heh.
