Devs should do a game enhancements kickstarter

I think the developers should do a kickstarter for features people want ( new char models, new UI elements, realtime DPS meters, updated LUA for mod scripting ( similar to what wow has). Things that they have concepts or working models for but need funding that is outside of what the DBG budget allows for in Everquest.

I think people would be more comfortable donating to a known development team and who we know work as hard as they can for the community in their day to day jobs.

Devs can provide concepts or working models and give updates every month or so on progess, with a definite implementation timetable ofc for features.

Already paid for the game multiple times. Bought expansions for multiple accounts, and pay a monthly fee to play this game on multiple accounts. No

    It was called EverQuest Next.

What they should do is kickstarters for all the games they developed and still end up developing with eq money, and put the money from eq back into eq.

Nope. EQ charges for expansions, charges sub fees, and has multiple layers of micro-transactions; One can't justify kickstarters on top of that.

Even if they had kickstarters, what makes you think that would actually increase money going to EQ? Money is fungible, they'd just move existing revenue streams to other games.

SOE/DBG has been spending our EQ money on anything else for over 10 years. Why would I trust them with more money after they've been so bad with all my other money?

Ah...very good points. Too bad :(

What about making new stuff for a 17+ year old game make sense for a kickstarter?

they're treating expansions like kickstarters now where you pay for content before you get access to it.
    Gyurika Godofwar likes this.

a company shouldn'r need kickstarter ... gofundme or anything other than their current operating expenses and budget

Preorder with benefits such as beta access is not even close to the same as a kickstarter.

Kickstarter and other crowd funding sites are used to raise venture capital for start up companies and projects for those who can't get a standard business loan or angel investment firm to back them. DBG/SOE is an established company of who already has an inflow of money; its their management that determines how it is spent and invested.
