[DEV] Serious question about expansion locked features on TLP servers.

As we all know, one of the most asked for features on the current TLP servers, especially the ones a bit further progressed like Phinny and Rage/Lockjaw, is the ability to activate item spell effects from within bags. This ability was a feature that was used to promote the Veil of Alaris expansion and when released one had to purchase the expansion to gain this ability.

A similar feature was released with The Darkened Sea, the mount key ring. At the time, you had to purchase this expansion to gain this ability, which allows you to put mounts onto a virtual keyring to be stored and allows you to CLICK THEM FROM WITHIN THAT SPACE. This feature is active on Phinigel and works as of this post.

My question is thus: Why are two similar game features, QoL features to be exact, from a similar period not BOTH active on Phinigel and other TLP servers? Since this is a bit confusing, with some features appearing to be flagged as non-consequential and others being considered "game-changing", would it be too much trouble to ask that a list be produced in order to inform us which features we can expect in a reasonable amount of time, and which ones we will have to wait for?

This can also be considered a humble plug for the ability to Click from bags on all TLP servers. :)

I would appreciate any response from any DBG staff. Thank you.

    P.S. I want to buy more bags...but I can't :p

I'm guessing you meant this as a rhetorical question but...

    https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq/index.php?threads/game-update-notes-january-17-2018.246522/

I guess they assume people might buy those but not more bags if bag click works? I don't even know if there are 10+ mounts you can get on Phinigel at this point unless you were really trying to fill it. So those extensions are pretty useless on TLPs until more marketplace familiars and mounts become available.

But the reverse question could be asked. Instead of both being active why not have neither be active on Phinigel and other TLPs as they aren't in those eras yet?

I have never purchased the mount keyring from the store. I did purchase TDS when it was live, but on Phinigel, I have the keyring. Im saying it was granted to me for nothing on Phinny, why shouldn't something linked to an xpac that was almost 3 years BEFORE the one with Mount keyrings be active as well?

The reverse question could be asked, but considering they are both QoL features, denying them outright for no reason seems like poor customer service.

Indeed, you did not. But there is now a potential revenue stream for that feature with the additional slots being available on the marketplace.

They deny the ability to log onto multiple clients from the same PC on certain servers. Just like they deny QoL features on certain servers. This is the nature of TLP servers. You sign up to play through old content and should just be happy that some QoL features slipped though.

What they allow and what they don't doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason. Somehow the Melee AAs that were introduced in TDS to balance level 105 Melee characters are freely granted on all TLPs. This creates a huge power disparity among DPS classes on TLPs. But the ability to block buffs or click from bags, which doesn't really do anything for player power isn't on TLPs. Doesn't make any sense.

This thread has been posted 10+ times in the past year. I really don't see them changing their mind on it.

Perhaps not, but maybe they will get sick of hearing about it and take the good advice of adding it to the store. Spark some revenue at least, its only good business.

Also, the ability to block buffs will be on TLP in about 2 months, on Phinny at least, and it is another thing that *should* be on all TLP servers. I may not get my way, but I will not stop asking, I will not stop fighting, and I will not let others who have had their spirits broken bring me down and make me lose hope.

Until I stop playing this game, or they implement clicking from bags as a game-wide feature, available to everyone either paying for the game (like TLP servers do) or those who have bought an xpac in the past year, I will keep asking, I will continue to submit logical arguments only to watch them fade away into the void of the illogical. I care not if I am successful, though I do hope for success, I am content to keep striving for what I feel is the right thing.

I'd love to see click from bags reassigned to Luclin, but wishful thinking is something I do.

What might make sense is all era-tied QoL features to be looked at and assigned the most logical era for them to function as "carrots" on progression.

Some of them may be unbalancing if put in too early (someone explained this well about some classic trilogy raids in another thread --think the QoL feature in that discussion was extended target window), however there is likely a point any/all of them could be added well before the past-progression server population drop-off point. Aka, not really a good reason for some really good stuff to happen after TSS.

Such changes won't impact live at all, but certainly could please a lot of progression players.

Can't click from bags = people want open slots = DBG gets better sales from their 28-40 slot bags. There's a reason why these are claimable on TLP, and why them being claimable on TLP servers is advertised every time it's included as a perk for the bonuses for new expacs.

I think the argument could be made that allowing click from bags would also encourage more bag sales. I myself am at a point where unless click from bags is enabled, I will not be able to buy more, since all my top inventory slots are taken. I am more than positive this situation is a lot more common on TLP than the situation you describe. A person with a top inventory slot available does not HAVE to fill that slot with a bag, but at this point, I am unable to buy a bag unless click from bags is enabled. Do you see how these situations are not alike?

This applies to me too. Id have 8 40's in a heartbeat if i could use clicks from inside of bags, but as it stands having 4 click slots is infinitely more valuable then another 160 bag spots since the first 4 40's already give 2 times the normal inventory size for this ear.
