DBG could fix ...

If they actually wanted to, DBG could fix the boxer issue in such a manner that would make the game pleasant and playable for non-boxers AND for legit boxers who are boxing because they just plain prefer boxing to playing one character at a time.

It would probably require the allocation of one intern with a small "slush fund".

    How?

Have the aforementioned intern peruse Google for a bit and make a list of the RMT sites that traffic in Everquest goods on TLP servers.

Then, make purchases from each distinct seller found on those sites.

Then, when the seller shows up to deliver the goods, you've caught someone that is playing the game as a job.

Review logs and track the items in question back to the farmers involved. Track further to find out where they're keeping their Krono stash so they can spin up a new business if they get banned. Then ban the entire business.

It affects no one except those "players" who are abusing the perfect storm DBG created by allowing Kronos, removing the PnP, allowing boxing, and leaving some classes overtuned for the era.

Want to box 6 characters, fine. Want to box 80 characters, fine. But, if you're using them to make actual real life cash, your business gets shut down.

I could make a separate argument about boxers who abuse the system in place so that the very playerbase they're stomping on is funding their mage crew, but that's all been said before and isn't really pertinent to this particular point.
  2. oldkracow 9999 Is the Krono Account Limit

Takes about 10 minutes on google to find 3 real good sites with people trying to sell the following....

    • Power level services for krono or $
    • Krono for around 10 to 7 bucks per
    • Characters they power leveled on rage fire or lockjaw, usually level 50
    • Plat, around 1k per $1 it seems.
I'm guessing even a slow intern could ban around 50 people a day just showing up for the trade and banning that account + any account made from the same IP, same billing address, same CC # or if DBG is smart they have tagged the kronos with an ID and can figure how to track them backwards.....

I'm sure a few hours of effort is just too much time to dedicate to this.
If anything they will make money, every krono you can ban is $ that never can be used for a service you never have to provide......

    Actions always reveal intent.
There is no intent to fix this.

FYI, to my knowledge they used to do this back in the day (Luclinish) - but likely the cost outweighs the benefit at this point.

Your solution is predicated on the notion that DB personnel and RMTrs are not one and the same...

What server do you play on/what is the name of your character?

They should totally round up everyone who has ever engaged in a RMT transaction, or boxed multiple toons, or used any 3rd party software at all, and ban them. Then the three of you who haven't ever done any of those things can finally have the server you want with no one else around to bother you.

edited because my quote failed, asking above two posters same question I have been asking

    Char name/server

The RMT on 3rd party sites is rampant with LJ/RF transactions. It really is sad to see nothing being done, but I agree the costs outweigh the benefits for them. The quote above from Machen is sad but sort of true (although I wouldn't put boxing {duo or even a single group} in the same boat as RMT/3rd party software) when it comes to playing EQ legit.

Would be nice for them to take some pride in their game and get rid of the people actively cheating and not being cautious about it. /shrug

get rid of that box program ;/ they instance the zones and the 6+ boxer now just split their crew up one in each zone. This box program is like crack for RMTer's

Do you have any reason to believe that they are? Other than your spiffy tinfoil hat, of course....

So you want a company to spend money to stop something, that in all honesty, they probably don't care about.

You're under the impression that RMTing hurts the game. It does not. In-car it keeps people playing longer.

The RMTer plays longer, since he's making money.
The casual players that buy gear and pp for real life money play longer because they aren't as far behind.
The hardcores play longer because they have a constant supply of platinum coming from people to support things like their casino habit, and alt addictions.

You're looking at this all wrong. You think every person that steals a camp or dps races you is RMTing. You're very wrong. The player base on these servers that actually RMT is so tiny...

The others, that are being jerks, are only doing do because it's the rules of the server.

In short, kronos are a way for Sony/DBG to curb RMTing slightly. And is a huge success. The company turns a huge profit from this item, and could care less if it's resold 12 times over. Good luck ever getting to company to crack down on RMTing

Just the tinfoil hat. Personally, I would like to see them overtly selling plat for $$$. It is going to go on anyway, but selling it direct would pull the rug out from RMTers and have the added benefit of getting them out of the camps.

I always lag behind/very casual, but only way Im ever going to pay to win is if the company gets all the profit. I would like to have the gear a couple kronos would net me, but as it is set up now, its just encouraging maroons to hog all the best drops, so not gonna do it.

^ this all day. Only there's no way to do it without implementing more pp into the economy.

They could do a server wide lottery. And keep a certain percent of the sales of tickets and sell off that platinum!

My opinion, and my opinion only: I'd like to have the gear too, but I'm not going to buy it. Not from other players, and not from the company. I'll either win it/earn it/make it or I'll do without it.

Why? Want to check to see if you ever sold me a FBSS or Krono for real life cash on an auction site? I'll save you the trouble of checking your records - you haven't.

Useless response. Maybe he's trying to figure out why you even think this is a problem.

Oh and btw, telling someone you never did something, doesn't necessarily mean you're telling the truth.
