Crescent Reach and Racial Limitations

When playing a race other than Drakkin in Crescent Reach why are the classes still faced with the same limitations they would have in their traditional starting cities? All of the guilds are there, so why can't there be a Dark Elf Ranger, an Ogre Enchanter, and/or a Barbarian Druid?

There were votes to select new race/class combo's, Wood Elf Beastlord and Froglok Monk, and and those can only start in Crescent Reach.

You'll have to take it up with The Council of the Six

Because Drakkin were a whole other introduction to the game. Since they were new with TSS expansion they could pretty much make them all around pc. The others came many years before and have dietys, alliances/good/evil, traits/visions/free fall etc built in and that would be very hard to change.

I don't quite see a barbarian druid porting folks anywhere. It would be like getting hit with a big rod and flying thru the air that way. An Ogre enchanter? Yeah so mez breaks and he whomps them? "Bam Bam dat will teach yu to break ma mez" Might be hard for him to read the spell scrolls too since they aren't real intelligent. And that is an example right there. Ogre are kind of low on intelligence but enchanters need high intelligence

The Drakkin were introduced with the Serpent's Spine expansion, and were the last playable race added to EverQuest. They are an artificial race, created by six breakaway dragons of the Nest.

But it doesn't answer my question. Why Can't we create new race/class combos? Might it be an addition of quests in a new/coming expansion?

There's actually a number of reasons from armor graphics to character animation. Trust me on this I got the Ogre illusion Visage of the Brute and in addition to immediately needing to shrink the instrument playing animation is the very definition of cringe.

I suggest that you find an illusion clicky for the race you want to appear to be and roll with that. I knew a guy was was a Wood Elf paladin and the only time anyone ever saw him as a Dwarf was immediately after a death. He had Crown of Deceit hot keyed.

EQ is ultimately a roleplaying game and that's going to be reflected in some design choices. There are plenty of unimplemented race/class combinations which could easily fit into the game world, but things like ogre int casters would actively detract from the lore. And yeah, I'm aware that there's probably very few people out there that care about EQ lore at this point and there's already been massive changes contributing to racial homogenization, but... just let big dumb ogres be big dumb ogres.

114 combos are more than enough. Even 228 when including the genders. Have you played them all ?

EQ has 16 PC races and 16 PC classes. There is the rumor that this is a hardcoded limitation inside the original code. Maybe it is also linked to a 32 bit limit.

Personally, I always wanted to see Iksar Rangers.
