Don't wanna post another but, funny how misinformed people are with informaiton.

    https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/npc.html?id=16737
    Xenaida [ Maps ]

Lets look at what they have about this person.
    Nothing.

Let me tell you about this NPC, it is basically NPC that tells you what maps, I never read what they say, probably no one else does either because its usually the 3rd or 4th NPC and thats after 1 -3 NPCs have giving you an essay to read so you know the drill click click click.

    Lets look at the comments,
    Not a merchant

    Doesn't buy or sell anything.

Not merchant you say??? Why would they be a merchant? Was the other NPCs you hailed a merchant?

Lemme guess, probably a newplayer, they probably think you buy maps in EQ, and this NPC is not selling maps so maybe another NPC is the map seller.
    There is no map seller.

    The other comments are basically
    Quest

Give her one of those blue mushrooms found behind Rytan(buffs and spells). Then you will get a shimmering vial of vigor.
    Quests, give her something.
Nothing about map, nothing about you have to create your own maps, nothing about you need to download maps, nothing about some zones don't have maps and if you want to see anything you gotta use a downloaded map or make your own.
No they just give an essay in the game. Probably common sense stuff, newplayers already know.
Newplayers just because they knew to EQ doesn't mean they played 5 other MMORPGs before.
    Just like jobs,
    software engineer in C++
I have python java fortran pascal basic cobol
NPC let me tell you about for loops.
I already know this get outta here.
In this game we do not have a for, you have to create that variable yourself.
    What?
Every other game has that, and I just found out about this. I have to download a library to get that "for" variable?
    This game is old. Modernize.

So basically the comments on allakhazam,
Xenadia. She is not a merchant. Why would you think shes a merchant, maybe another you buy maps? They trying to buy maps?
    Something about a quest.

Nothing about maps about Xenadia. Nothing saying you learn about maps.
No, you just talk to for quest, its a quest not a learning about maps thing. You defiantly do not do any sales with her either, why would you assume she's a merchant???

Have to think about what people are thinking that don't know don't know. EQ first time.
    Don't know nothing.
Don't know how to talk, don't know which sites are good. Maybe some shady site is top of SEO. They google and click on a shady site because the shady does better SEO.

This is a "be the change" kind of momement for you. Rasper made some great informaiton, what about 10 years ago? It was the goto resource for TLPs for like....at least 5 years. I think he's moved on now. EQProgression is relatively new. The guy doing it is probably doing it solo. Another guy made EQItems, and that is pretty cool, and TLPAuctions. Add your own site or offer your time and effort to one of the previously mentioned sites to help them.

Verant/Sony/Daybreak/Darkpaw never integrated an in-game wiki, and in the era EQ came out in, the discovery and mystery was part of the charm. Today, we expect to be able to google anything and get an instant answer. That wasn't true 25 years ago. I'm part of "we" so I agree with you its great to have reliable information but simply complaining won't get you anything. Message me if you need some front end help.

Allakhazam, EQTraders were all player created not done by SoE or Verant.

    The number of players is drastically lower and the traffic on these sites is minimal, even though the sites are still helpful just not as up-to-date;

The newer ones EQProgression EQItems ect are also player made.

Less and less players doing updates. the fact that Allakhazam still gets updated at all is surprising but it does.

if the players want more they will have to create it...

If you think community resources are bad and are trying to use kunark era as your example, that tells me you need to learn how to use google still, its that remedial.

Every single thing of any level of value of the game is well documented to a science in the early years. It isnt until you get to around the raid currency era that information becomes incomplete and sparse, and even then, its still mostly out there.

Meant to post this here instead of the "TLPs are not welcoming to new players" thread, but here's a spell Clickin' Tool I made in PowerBI that may be useful to you on TLPs:

Regardless of the accuracy of information, deciding whether or not to use it is a personal choice.

The creators of EverQuest, both original and current, never intended to create 'official' websites to catalog the game. There were a few minor attempts, but they clearly chose the path of community-driven sites for creative reasons. This means that it is up to individual players (or guilds) to decide whether to keep the information they discover to themselves or share it.

Thankfully a few community members have taken it upon themselves to catalog the game's vast information. However, this is an ongoing endeavor, and these resources are inherently incomplete. Users must accept this when utilizing them.

As for how 'EQ can do better,' your sense of entitlement is evident. As others have suggested, if you're dissatisfied with what's available, perhaps you should contribute to improving the catalog.
