Coming Changes to Blast of Anger? Why?

    Again wondering why these changes? Also just looking at the numbers i dont think the word Slightly is correct?

    - Warrior - Blast of Anger - Reduced the hate generated slightly for ranks 6 through 11.

    Blast of Anger:
    - Slot 1 changed from 'Increase Hate by 26000' to 'Increase Hate by 20000'
    - Description changed from 'Instantly increases hate by 26000, and then by 0 per tick for up to 0s (0 Ticks).' to 'Instantly increases hate by 20000, and then by 0 per tick for up to 0s (0 Ticks).'


    Blast of Anger:
    - Slot 1 changed from 'Increase Hate by 34000' to 'Increase Hate by 24000'
    - Description changed from 'Instantly increases hate by 34000, and then by 0 per tick for up to 0s (0 Ticks).' to 'Instantly increases hate by 24000, and then by 0 per tick for up to 0s (0 Ticks).'

    Doesn't look like too horrible a nerf although I'd question why blast of anger. It's our phantom pet that gives us god mode single target aggro. Nerfing blast of anger will just make it more painful to tank for a group again. Are they increasing wizards AC to go along with this?

    Heh I think original poster was most upset by word slightly. 30% isnt usually a slight change.

    Blasphemy.

    More seriously, that might be a good idea. Our jolt spells (concussion and brainfreeze) are nearly pointless in terms of useful agro reduction. Ditto AA concussion. That leaves fade, Mind Crash, and hoping for a random Arcane Fusion proc.

    If we're supposed to drop a nuke once in a while to toss a concussion, how about our concussions have a little more significant affect?

    I ain't even mad, bro. Seriously though, I'm very puzzled by the targeting of Blast of Anger. In the current state, I feel this is one of our most underwhelming agro abilities. To me, its clearly in the second tank territory, where you want to boost a little higher than the dps combined with Krondals. The insanely powerful tool we were given was Phantom, in that it will result in a snap and hold a consistent, unchallenged agro state. Blast of Anger was a toy, where Phantom is our real bread and butter.

    Also, in any case, my macros tend to be multi-functional. In the very rare situations where you need extra 'uumph' on this ability alone, its just a matter of combining Blast with Rage of the Forsaken, only to immediately remove it after. In the current state, Rage of the Forsaken is a bane to us. Just watch a warrior accidentally click it in EWK and pull every mob from every tank regardless of what kind of agro they have. A shawl proc alone is enough to bring all the mobs running.

    I guess, the tl;dr version, is I don't see how touching Blast of Anger is really going to change Warrior agro in any meaningful way (if a nerf is your intended purpose, it isn't really going to have an impact.)

    I appreciate the sentiment.

    I have this lingering question in the back of my mind, though. Elidroth, you've said before that burns are beginning to get out of control. Is your solution to "Too much burn!" to stagnate tank's aggro to where the limiting factor becomes how much hate can be generated by the MT, rather than the DPS capabilities of each player?

    Balance and finesse are lost in today's game. With a Warrior MT, there is nothing I can do to eclipse 1% on the aggro meter; there is no fear that I might do too much DPS or generate too much aggro. The presence of the aggro meter means the feel of ye olde game is never coming back (oh, how much fun it was to balance Strike of Solusek with my concussion pants and find just that amount that wouldn't draw aggro), but color me tickled.

    Lots of growing pains to get where you're going, but I support The Vision(tm).

    I don't support anything that I am not able to read first. I am hoping the vision is not to return things to Desert of Ro status in 1999, where we fought for 10 minutes to kill a mob, then had to bandage the warrior back to half health so the cleric could med.

    It's an EXTREMELY rare occasion I agree with Elidroth's line of thinking and this is one of them. If I generate too much agro during a fight and I don't pay attention, my fault completely. Remember when we had to guess when there was no tool telling us we were generating too much?? There's not much of a challenge left at all in the game anymore, so agro management should always be something we need to do.

    It's not just warrior aggro generation that they're toying with. Take a look at the changes for the Paladin "Beacon of the Righteous" ability:

    They've also made changes to a lot of the stuns and other things like SK Terror spells. From my own biased opinion, some of the changes are great and I love them, some of the changes are not and I hate them.

    It's obvious that they are looking at the aggro control abilities for all three of the main tank classes. This isn't necessarily a bad thing.

    Hate generation is 9/10ths knowing how to game the system, and 1/10th how much hate abilities generate.

    The only thing wizards really have to fear is mem-blur.

    I barely use blast. It's just not necessary when you can hit Rage of the Forsaken and Phantom Aggressor then go AFK. If you want to adjust warrior aggro you are missing the actual problem.

    Since buying Bold Attacks in June it's easy to pull aggro off knights for mobs I'm not even touching if I am proccing rune. Before you start whack a mole nerfing everything please talk to some warriors who understand what is going on with their aggro.

    Yes I'm aware Rage is getting changed as well. It also isn't the only thing affecting our aggro generation.

    It's easy to keep an entire raid at 1 on the aggro meter without using Rage. Blast of Anger has little to no effect on this.

    Just wondering why the Only Paladin AE hate (which is on a 2 min timer to start with), had its hate override removed...

    I can understand the Hate decrease, Ill take that as balancing. However making a 30' range with a -100 resist check ability taht is on a 2 min timer and removing its override. Is so far beyond overkill its not even funny.

    So basically IF we Have a beacon resist. Its 2 minutes before we can use it again and we got no hate.

    IF we use it the second adds spawn, but before we are on the hate list we have to wait 2 minutes before we can use it again and got capped at initial hate cap (1200?ish?)

    SO beacon went from Ok worth the 2 minute timer to... Well if it doesn't work we are back to spamming group heals, Hitting clickies, and praying we grab aggro.

    paladins are now the only tank without some form of Area hate that has an override.

    JW how that is even resembling balanced?

    Also its funny you talk about aggro balancing in Reference to the same patch, that put SK's in such a position on aggro, they are basically only second to warriors. I honestly don't think the massive increase to base hate and the massive increase to the %age based mod (voice of thule) was thought through very well.

    Lets say you give Terrors 1200 hate

    You then give Voice of Thule a 50%! increase

    You just gave them 1800 hate.

    You take their beam hate, Give it 4000 more hate (it was 5500 base hate, its now 9500) + the 50% bonus to voice... thats an extra 6000 hate.

    So you took a class that was struggling (quite abit) and basically gave no less then a 50% (in most cases... some were more) bump to their hate generation.

    Which is fine, Heck if you want Voice to be the "SK raid utility" thats cool too, but can you atleast decrease the recast time and increase the duration if its intended to be the SK's goto buff for other tanks?

    Sooo yeh. This last patch. Not a big fan.

    You may have noticed the SKs asking for a raid role in the tank forum...
