Cleric Merc Buff blocking guide for 85+ 100,105 ?

Does anyone have pointers to a guide on how/what to block at higher levels?

I have been missing out on buffblocking but sometimes a promised heal just not cut it. :)

I found an old guide from 2011: http://www.pakcafan.org/forums/index.php?/topic/10267-buff-blocking-to-make-mercs-heal/

I am still a bit confused.

Do I have to explicitly block specific heals/buffs each time I level or can I block a whole line of heals? That is will my block list be different at 85 from 90?

At least I understand Ranks do not matter anymore on block lists, blocking Rk. I will block the rest.

You have to block specific heals/buffs each time you (and your mercenary) level. So yes, add on to your block list.

Which reminds me: what's the maximum number of buffs that you can block these days?

I haven't blocked any merc heals since they stopped using Complete Healing several years ago.

You should only need to block the highest version that your merc can cast. They won't try to cast the 98 promised at 105 if you have the 103 version blocked, they'll cast something else instead.

It doesn't matter which rank (of 1/2/3) you block, the other two ranks will also be blocked.

They won't try to cast CHeal at all once they get above a certain level, so you shouldn't need to use a block slot on that.

Thank you Illa for the list!

Does this mean you need to block spells for your tank merc too? Is that even possible?
  8. moogs Augur

Yes, you need to. And no, it's not possible. Welcome to EQ.

    ?
http://eq.magelo.com/spell/43241 = Channels holy power to heal your target for up to 17841 hit points as well as attempting to remove poisons, diseases, and curses.

Slot 1: Increase Current HP by 17841
Slot 2: Decrease Poison Counter by 38
Slot 3: Decrease Disease Counter by 38
Slot 4: Decrease Curse Counter by 38

You sure that's the 105 cleric merc's dispel?
  12. Lighteningrod Augur

Cleric mercs do not cast dispell.
  13. Holtby New Member

Well, tash would get dispelled from charmed pets constantly until I pet blocked this spell.
Also by the description you quoted.
I will say yes, cleric mercs dispel and this is the 105 spell to block if you want to stop it.
  14. Lighteningrod Augur

That is a cure, not a dispell.

A dispel is to remove beneficial effects from a hostile target, a cure is to remove detrimental effects from a friendly target. It may seem like a trivial difference, but when you use the terms wrong, that's why people don't know what you're talking about.
