[IMG]All kinds of new, fun stuff to do in game to commemorate all the years you've adventured in Norrath.

EverQuest is turning 23 years old today! (Yes, 23 years of questing, raiding, tradeskilling and adventuring—can you believe it?!) In celebration of our anniversary, we've prepared a new mission, some new quests, a new raid, and achievements you can earn from now and until May 10, 2022, 11:00 p.m. PDT. Oh, and until April 20, 2022, 11:00 p.m. PDT, we have a little surprise gift for you, too, just for logging in* and celebrating with us. Plus, XP gain has been set to 150% until March 31, 2022, 11:59 p.m. PDT. On top of all that, we're also running a sweepstakes until Friday, March 25, 2022, 11:00 p.m. PDT which you can find and enter through our official Anniversary landing page.

    New for this year:
Quest – The Known Laws of Aviation
    • Giraga the troll has come to the sphinxes for information. Giraga asked a warrior in her town to train her to be as strong as him. He laughed and told her, 'mebbe when fish fly.' Giraga has never seen a flying fish, so she has gone to the sphinxes for help. They gave her a book full of riddles and, presumably, solving them will lead her to flying fish.
    Quest – Paintings Playing Poker
    • Big Slick Jones loves his poker, and one of his early poker memories is the stories that would be told about the crows playing poker at his hometown tavern, getting him interested in the craft. He'd love to hear more about the other paintings around Norrath and if they're still up.
Quest – Death Finds a Way
    • Krastoraab, Acolyte of the Cycle, has a story that he wishes to tell any who is willing to hear it. A story about the cycle of life, death, and everything in between. He needs the help of several spirits who have since passed, and he is waiting for their cycle to begin anew.
    Mission – Beyond Espoir
    • You'll pick up a quest from Krastoraab who will send you out to meet several disciples of the cycle. It'll then be up to you to fight each of the disciples in order to understand the importance of the cycle. There are lots of steps to tackle, but the rewards will be worth it.
    Raid – Mad Emperor
    • Rumors have been spreading about activity in Karnor's Castle. Eerie green lights, screams . . . stuff like that. Not that these things never happen in the castle, but never this frequently!

    Returning events:

    • Looking for adventures that are over level 100? Some of the previous top hits included Sailor Twift with her Riveting Tales. Don’t have time to help spread the Unity among the Gnolls? Head to the Plane of Knowledge and speak with Maitreya the Maitre D`. He needs some help making a Fancy Feast.
    • Not quite up to the level 100+ quests? Don't worry, there are a bunch of lower-level quests. If you are not ready to head out for summer, stop by Geia Korrel and head back to school with School Supplies. Or if helping a lovesick Iksar is more to your liking, speak with an Emissary of Erollisi in the Plane of Knowledge.
    • No party is complete without eating some delicious Platinum Anniversary Cake in scenic locations. While you're out in the world adventuring, take the time to explore over seventeen years of anniversary content.
It's a great time to explore Norrath like never before and celebrate our birthday! Speak with the Mechanical Fortune Teller in Plane of Knowledge for details on these past and current celebrations. Hop in, strap on your armor and weapons, and have fun!

Went to enter for the prize pack and see yet again players from out side the US get shafted again.
When are the global players going to get any recognition.
You keep on about keeping the community strong well that encloses players from England to New Zealand and every where in between.
You want more loyalty how about you start and show some to the rest of the players from around the world that help keep the game going and you employed.

international participation in giveaways is wayyyy outside the control of Daybreak. You gotta take this one to your MP, friend
  6. Lubianx Augur

I agree it is way outside Daybreak's control, however, it has nothing to do with "our MP". It has more to do with US laws than laws in other countries
  7. Waring_McMarrin Augur

Don't blame the US for this as each country has its own laws around sweepstakes including taxes that the winner and company providing the prize must pay. It gets very complicated very quickly which is why they are limited in scope.

Back in January I did an Australian sweepstake for a life membership for something else, it was open to US, Canada (not Qubec I think it was), UK and of course Australia.

I'm sure Daybreak could include more countries if they chose to.

Where I am it is on the US side that this issue lies as I can wager on many other US products (online poker, Powerball etc), but I am not going to arguing schematics and yes I do realise that it isn't the same everywhere and it would be very complicated, although in game rewards seem to circumvent this issue (see heritage crates)
  10. Xianzu_Monk_Tunare Augur

On the contrary, there is nothing at all in US law which prevents any kind of sweepstakes from awarding prizes outside of the United States. 100% of the time it has to do with the laws within those other countries or portions of those countries.
The rules for sweepstakes and giveaways vary dramatically in all countries depending on the exact kind of item that is being given away. It is likely that several countries have laws against one or more of the items given in this contest being done. Most likely the DB Cash.
Please feel free to name the US statue which is supposedly causing this issue.

No one is saying that they can't it is just that the rules get complicated when you are dealing with other countries.

Here is just a sample of rules they have to follow in other countries

    https://nationalsweepstakescompany.com/blog/international-sweepstakes-contest-laws/

Loot chests are different then a contest that you have to enter and the company collects information on you.

I suspect that many countries in the EU have issues with the data collection of these types of contests especially when it comes to social media.

Daybreak already have my information as I am a paying customer. It is possible to allow these loot chests as a reward instead for international customers.
  13. Xianzu_Monk_Tunare Augur

That's not how the laws work in those countries.

the only known character to switch classes in EQ, depending on how one counts? she wasn't a paladin until after her misadventure in Kunark, right?

the other one I can think of is kinda debatable - Lhranc maybe switched from warrior to shadowknight, or maybe he didn't have a class before his fall.

Interesting, they can sell gambling boxes in the EU but not run a free sweepstakes. Guess, it’s ok to break laws if it makes money.
  17. Waring_McMarrin Augur

Loot boxes and sweepstakes involve different laws especially when the sweepstakes involves social media and GDPR data.

Ah, thank you Mr. International Law Specialist.
  19. Waring_McMarrin Augur

You don't have to be a specialist to understand that different laws are in place for in game loot boxes and sweepstakes. Companies have been dealing with the problems of running sweepstakes across borders for decades while dealing with loot boxes is a new issue. There are plenty of places where a loot box can be sold but a sweepstake can't be run. I also believe that the countries that have issues with loot boxes don't have a full idea of how to regulate them yet.

Have a little humility, you can’t just YouTube LegalEagle and be an expert.
