Its been a long time since I posted about this topic. What if any work being done to add some new items to the Casino?. There are several items that were removed years ago that I would love to spend my Loyalty points on Golden Tickets for. Mainly the BFG = Breezeboot's Frigid Gnasher. This has been a dream to see this item restored in some way for quite a long time now. At this point in the game, The "broken" quality of it I feel is no longer an issue. Other items that I would enjoy seeing would be items like Earthshaker, Spined Chain Mail, Scepter of Destruction, etc....
If they would just add even an ornamentation for the BFG I think a lot of people would be excited. A low level caster usable PBAE DD proccing weapon would be nice.
I was so upset that I almost quit when it was removed. I had spend weeks working on the quest, and had just finished getting the wood spawn. All I needed was the wing off the one critter and the next day the quest was gone (we were hoping it was temporary).. but to no avail... This made me so livid. Its one of the few items in game that I wish I could have gotten and would trade everything for one.
They did this far too often in the past. They remove something for no real reason and then never go back and put it in the game again no matter how often people beg for it. There just seems to be so little sense in how things are done.
never know, a revamp to the casino rewards would encourage people to use loyalty points there... but an earthshaker? maybe if they revamped it and added a notrade heirloom flags to it... (instead of earthquake, add a cyclone vortex warrior discipline proc) although there still is that non warrior version of an earthshaker still dropping in the game for Rangers, Shadowknights, Paladins and Berzerkers in water... breezeboots frigid gnasher would be sweet... but yeah, a revamp on those prizes likely would get more people to want to use that setup...
I agree with making an updated casino, with actual desired items. Having a money sink would be nice for the in game economy, especially on FV.
I'm all for updating the casino, drastically drop the cost of tries though. There are enough money sinks in EQ as it is. If you want one so bad on FV, make the ones there reflect your economy and cost 1-5k a shot,
I asked Piestro at a recent Q/A about returning the BFG (either as its original quest, or some other means), he said its possible, and wasn't totally dismissive about it. Guess we just need to remind him, several times.
I remember recently reading someone moaning like hell about your BFG, and the the fact you wouldn't server transfer to Firona to sell it to him. Muppetry at its finest
I asked for new casino items during a dev chat in 2007. They said "yeah" but it's been five years and yeah, nothings changed.
The devs never seem dismissive about it if you talk to them and they all seem to agree it's possible. They just never show any motivation to make it happen, much like numerous other items they have nerfed or removed entirely from the game for little to no reason.
There was a very real reason at the time they removed it, but it's no longer applicable. Casino would be the perfect place for it now.
That may or may not be the case, but more importantly they never put it back in even when countless people have requested it. There are a lot of items that were taken out for one reason or another, some with real issues and some not, that no longer are a problem and they just leave them as is. It's lazy.
Its my understanding that the BFG was removed during Vellious because people were using the knockback clicky effect on it to blow themselves back up ledges in Temple of Veeshan, thus defeating a zone mechanic the developers felt strongly about. It remains to be seen if they still feel as strongly about this as I imagine there are lots of other ways to move yourself around. BFGs are also fun for headshot powerleveling (being nerfed fairly hard by not extending headshot in RoF) and using archery disciplines vs. mobs marked no-range-combat. If none of these things are big deals.. then it should be brought back along with a few other old-timey things that no longer in game game drops or quests. Manastone anyone?
As a followup.. if it is added to the casino as a prize. Work should be done to defeat the "you already have this prize and its lore so you get a different prize" mechanic. I'd want it to be a rarely won item, not something you could show up with your collection of old prizes and force out of it thing.
The original SK and Necro circlet is another one. It's okay to buy an AA for instant invis, but not have an item?
It's a shame too, since BFG is the only (discovered) item with that graphic... It was a cool looking toy. I'd get it just for that look. (Coming from the dark elf with a whole assortment of items, armor/robe graphics, and weapons in a bag in my bank for Guild Lobby Role Playing or fashion shows >.> ) Casino revamp would be kinda cool. Should try and get a list together of items we think should be added and see what a dev thinks of it. Would certainly give players another reason to save and use plat, or loyalty points.
