Cannot proceed past Character Select Screen

Just returned to All Acess in preparation for the upcoming TLP's.
Played all day on a couple of different servers. Somewhere between (9:00 pm and 10:00 pm PDT strangeness began. The Spell Bar disappeared and resisted all efforts to locate it. I stepped out of the program to try a few things including a system reboot. When I returned I could no longer get past the Character Select screen. This is true across all servers (or at least the various ones I tried to log into). I cleared caches and uninstalled and reinstalled Everquest. I have run out of ideas.

Successfully invoked and played around in three other MMO's including EQII.

Filed a bug report but they no longer work weekends so I thought I see if anyone had any ideas.

Corrupted zone file? Try the option to Return to Home City. And/Or from the launcher use the gear icon and Validate Game Assets? Also might need to restore your eqclient.ini file from a backup.

I had validated game assets before trying a complete uninstall and reinstall. I cannot return to home city as I cannot do anything which requires communicating with the server. I could only use commands which are for the client. i.e. rotate and esc to exit.

I don't have a backup for the eqclient.ini file but deleting (renaming) it fixed my login problem. Now if I can only figure out why I don't have a s[ell bar for my brand new ShadowKnight. Only level 2 so I only have one spell I could learn into my spell book but no way to make it useable.

The spell bar problem appears to be a known bug...
