Can we get EQ3 but without this

So like I said, 1 generic building type (albeit a few are a different color) and then the guild halls. This view is also misleading as you are seeing it from a view that was not possible in game. You saw it from a street view which makes it even more same looking because you don't look at the roof on a building and the walls all look the same.
As for your Original East Freeport Screen shot... that is a shot of part of the Dock from the water side, doesn't show anything of the interior town. I will concede that old East Freeport had two generic building types. The ones on the dock and then the ones within the city area.

BTW, your original image only shows in the replies.

People not being required to be strategic and put a lot of thought into the game and still succeeding is different from there being little strategy or thought in the game.

The abilities are not horribly balanced, what they do is simply not useful to most people. It is more about the Spell/Tome & AA Devs not listening to classes (some classes more than others) when they tell them that a certain spell, tome, or AA is not useful or wanted anymore because of other changes that were made. Monks for instance have been asking for them to stop giving us certain combat abilities or to change their timer 5+ years, but we get ignored; it isn't that the abilities are poorly balanced it is just that they are on the same timer as another much more important ability so the less important one doesn't get used.
Learning what to use and not use is actually requiring of thought and strategy. Not all abilities should be used in all situations, and some people might never use certain abilities. New players only get confused about the use of abilities, if people tell them the game requires very little thought or strategy, to new players that means I don't have to think. EQ requires an average amount of strategy and thought to play it and succeed. You can be very strategic and thoughtful and do a ton more in the game, but it is not required.

So, basically, you are asking EQ to fund yet another game that would almost certainly crash and burn like the multitude of others it has funded in the past ?

Just image if all the money sucked out of EQ over the last 2+ decades had actually been reinvested in EQ instead of flushed down the toilet ?

Light blues are not good experience. Who's soloing HA's in the 80s? Returning players in defiant?

Begging for buffs / mooching groups / charity case / overseer is a terrible path to progression. This could easily be addressed, but between community gatekeeping and dev bandwidth, there's simply no effort applied here.

Community Gatekeeping being the big one, probably. Every time I ask why the AA cap and Merc cap for F2P accounts have not been removed or at least greatly expanded, I never get a straight answer from the devs. But I can count on a whole chorus of players to tell me to "Shut up and just pay". Devs clearly see the community doing that, and for whatever reason doing that.

Anything past level 65-70 really cannot be done with a good number of AA's - definitely more than the 500 any new player or 1000 any silver returner (provided they were silver before silver was discont.) is allowed to have. For all levels in general, Apprentice mercenaries aren't that great either - especially the Tank one. Even if you just cap F2P at Journeyman 1 and 3, that's still a heck of a lot better than Apprentice 1-5.

F2P is basically a Free-Trial it's a cut-down version of the game & you get a cut-down version of a player character to experience it with.

If you want the full-fat player character & the full-fat experience of teh game then you are asked to pay the full fat price of those.

That's why F2P accounts are given a much reduced AA count & Merc Cap.

Most other games free trial's have a level cap far below their upper limit unlike EQ which has its quite close to the upper limit.

I tried F2P & I hated it, years of playing the paid version of the game meant I was never going to be happy with the F2P environment, I'd actually rather not play it at all myself, there are free games out there that are more enjoyable.

There are simple methods of improving your F2P experience if you don't mind buying a Krono or two with your plat - since consuming a krono removes all the gates and you can gather aa for that 30 day stretch which will stay with you when it ends.

Well first, you won’t get a straight answer because it’s unbecoming of them to be like “we want your money”. But that’s the bottom line.

F2P is a trial addition. You’re not supposed to be able to experience the entire game the same way everyone else does. It’s supposed to whet your appetite and make you want more. And as Skuz has said, if you’ve ever played without the restrictions, F2P isn’t worth the hassle and if I was restricted to F2P only, id rather not play at all. There’s better games out there for free.

There is no such thing any more. There are only 2 ranks, Apprentice and Journeyman.

The pervasive gatekeeping on these forums is embarrassing. There's a handful of players that control the agenda here and Tunare help you if you dare to cross them. Just as the tiny minority of vocal malcontents on Twitter do not represent humanity, in no way do these forums accurately represent the collective will of the EQ community.

What gatekeeping? You sub, you play, ask questions and learn. What else is there?
  11. Treiln Augur

Y’all keep using that word and I don’t think it means what you think it means…

How would you, or anyone else for that matter, keep me from doing anything in game? Genuinely curious.

Do you know where I can find the old patch notes and catch up on some of these changes? I’m curious if they made lower level journeyman mercs stronger by upgrading them all to “tier 5” or if they weakened 85+ mercs to “normalize” their capabilities from lower tiers

The patch notes for the mercenary tiers is here:

Insult the devs (with wrong information), ask them about a game they really have nothing to do with, and then expect them to magically grant your wishes. Some people are ******* idiots.
