I just noticed this tweet on the sideboard: "Can Erollisi count on you to [help] and spread joy throughout Norrath?"

I am a crusty old fart. I don't follow twitter, facebook, etc.

So if Erollisi is relying on "social media" to get her call for help out, she probably should not count on me. :p
Aeonblade, Yinla, Symbius and 2 others like this.

Social media is the worst thing to happen to society in 200 years.

agreed. social media as a means of communication is the current bane of civilization. much of it is in broken partial sentences that are totally incomprehensible with or without a prior context. My apologies to anyone who doesn't understand words properly spelled. LEET, ROTFLMFAO. ;-) and such are not real words. It's a shame that sony has fallen into this trap. They created their own means of communicating with us (these forums, in game message of the day and such) and then abandoned them for other 'social' media. Maybe this explains why they haven't fixed the problems with in game chat channels. They no longer understand the need for communication in game.

What happened 200 years ago? Napoleon being exiled?

Nope it is actually on these forums as well?

Social media is how to get more people to play. It's the most effective advertising there is, however if nobody represents than the game wont get as much publicity as it should. That's why Sony is providing you with incentives if you do something on facebook or twitter because in the long run your helping promote the game.

While I don't have any use for social media, I do promote any effort SOE makes to bring new people in to see this amazing game.

Yeah... well they could also offer bumper stickers or t-shirts for people my age too.

I would be down for that too

If they want me to promote the game, they'll have to give me much more to make it worthwhile.
