BST wish list for new expansion (and possible retroactive change too)

I honestly dont know if Dev's even read this, or if they care, but I have one desire for my BST and that is this, change their pets to they don't need (and cannot use) mage toys.
Right now for our pets we need to get a good pet focus, max out pet AA's, Pet "stance" buffs and then pet gear. While this is shared between classes, Mages summon their pets fully clothed so to speak...
I feel like BSTS should be different for two reasons. Lorewise, it makes no sense putting on plate armor onto a wolf/bear etc. And then getting our wolf to dual wield two swords? Thats just off putting.
Secondly, I feel like our pets should rely upon more their pet stance buffs as opposed to a mage.
Would it break the game or provide an unfair advantage? No. As I said, mages summon pets fully geared, and necros could be given a similar thing. From a wipe, it is just one more step to do we could cut out. It would remove the need to have pet gear stacked up in our bags, (and if we log out we have to seek out a mage again).
In a group or raid, we could be rezzed, pop our pet, pop the pet stance bug, haste it and its ready to go.
I know it would be a big task to rebalance pet levels to exist without gear, but I feel like it would be a worthwhile bonus to the game.
Do I see this ever happening? probably not, but I do feel like it would be a quality of life change.

The devs have repeatedly said they do read the forums. They simply VERY rarely comment on anything.

While i'm not against this by any means, I feel like the stance buffs are our answer to something along those lines.

We don't have to give DPS to add a stun proc to our pet via buff
We don't have to give up survivability to still do great damage with our pets
    Etc etc

Whereas a mage has to sacrifice something by using another pet for specific scenarios (stun proc, needing the HP pool to tank something, so on and so forth).

I've read your post and have read it again. And I've failed to see how would it possibly improve my quality of life. All I saw - some adjustments and modifications requiring some significant development time with no apparent benefit as a result.
This is just for the record in case devs read this thread.

/shrug i hardly ever use pet toys, i do like some aggro procs when my warder needs to tank, but other then that, i hardly care. yes i prob miss some dps, but to me, it's hardly worth the effort.
(especially now with lag making the warder better dps without any procs).

i only have a few small and one big wish though.
small ones, buff duration for focus same as shammie, single target SE buff ( so we can rebuff someone in raid early without blowing TB), maybe make the follow up spells on dicho fury have a tiny bit better 100 hands effect, so they are actually worth to scribe, make the single ice nuke worth to scribe ( it's a dps downgrade you know to cast it ), thats about it.

big wish though, of course, is gnome beastlords. it's the only thing this awesome and cool class is really missing.

It would remove the need to have mage toys sitting in our bags if our pet dies. This might not seem big to you but in a few areas it would be hugely helpful.
Raids: Trying to get your pets up to optimal standard after you die and get rezzed takes abit. If we could simplify it to just pet "stance" buff, pet proc and pet haste (which is done via a single cast), would be much better than even having to fish around for weapons.
Soloing: At all levels this would help. I love exploring and soloing places, and sometimes I get caught out and have to FD quickly, while my pet is giving its life away. To be able to go back to a safer spot and rebuff a pet is much faster than going through click on unfolded bag, transfer items 4 at a time from bag to pet, delete bag, unfold second bag, do this again, delete bag, unfold third bag, give two weapons, put other weapons into inventory or leave bag there,... Would be much smoother to just summon pet, hit a few buffs and go.

As for dev time taken, they could easily fix this two ways. First would be temporary, bring over the code when mages summon pets and they come armored fully. This would be a simpler fix. The more complex is changing pet values on HP, AC, Attack etc.

Also, by removing the need for pet weapons it could also help with raid numbers. I know that from time to time giving pets weapons has had negative effects on raid latency.

Someone else said about using weapons for agro procs, this is in part because our baseline pet proc has an agro dump as part of the proc. Would love to see maybe they bring back something like Dire Bite, which has an incapacitate style debuff, and also agro mod for the pet. Could also increase agro mod as part of the pet tank stance buff.

I know a lot of people box and have four or five accounts, and probably have pocket mages running amok, but as someone who solos this is an extra layer on top of just rebuffing after a wipe that seems rediculous.

FD, get up and run and Summon Companion :) it's a life saver ;)

Continue to use Dire Bite. The DPS difference in proc damage is barely noticeable. Get the same dex stat benefits as well on the pet, so you're not missing out on much. And again, if you're needing the aggro for tanking, DPS takes a back seat (and it's not much you're losing out on anyway).

Edit: saying this as a 117 BST currently that rarely ever has mage armor to throw on my BST and we do just fine in the solo/molo world :)

You are only asking for more power. As you wrote that it does not make sense that animals can equip weapons and other stuff it would be better if beastlord pets could not equip and use them anymore. Same for other animal pets like druid and shaman ones.

Solution - group with a mage. All the time. Mages are useful, befriend one. They also give out mana-rods and cast group damage shield.

Here is what happens when my beastlord dies on a raid and gets rezzed during fight: once the bestlord respawns, I immediately cast mana-rod and summon warder. As soon as warder summoned my group shaman casts the shaman buffs and the group ranger casts ranger buffs and if a zerker present - he usually adds Cry Carnage. Meanwhile I cast Unity and Shared Merciless Ferocity. At that time I am back to attacking MA mob. When a cleric has time I usually get some cleric buffs.
That's it. No weapon/armor summoning, no special attention to the warder. My little tigger will be fine for a while.

Ever tried False Death instead of Palying Possum?
Also, statistically my beastlord dies first much more often than the warder. It is truly a rare occasion for my beastlord having to resummon warder while staying alive. Warders are so much tougher these days...
And I rarely give summoned gear to my warder these days. My tigger is fine as it is, unless I am trying to do something truly reckless.

Not at all. Even a small change such as "automatic" gear on a pet has a potential to seriously unbalance the gameplay in this or that situation. And such imbalance translates into a significant devs' time. Historically, most of the commotion and unpleasantries happening as a consequence of insufficiant balance test before the release and hectic "rebalancing" efforts afterwards. Suggesting that some, perhaps small, change being released without a thorough testing is irresponsible.
That means, presume the whole testing/troubleshoting/rebalancing cycle for any change, however small it is. Otherwise - many server resets and displeasure ahead.

Many raid leaders have a standing policy of no pet weapons on raids as it is. And very few raids these days depend on a silly 2-3K extra dps weapons can add to beastlords warders. Not a factor.

Use Sapping Bite instead of Spirit of Shoru - problem solved.

Oh, perils of playing solo in a multiplayer game!
Well, yes, you can do that. And yes, there is a price to pay, in your case - bumming gear from mages.
Again, your "wish list" only addresses your wishes. Adds nothing to my game.
But it will cost ME in form of devs time being spent on something not important.
See, a dilemma, who's wishes must be server first.
Statistically - your wish is not a starter.

Next time try to make a wish list with an opening like this: "Dear DPG. Here is my idea how you can make more profit while applying as little effort as possible and not piss off most of your paying cutomer base!"
<sarcasm>I bet you'll end up with a new TLP idea.</sacrasm>

Every class should be dependent on another class to meet full potential. Mages provide a valuable service to beast to help their pets and themselves reach that potential.
  11. fransisco Augur

i would ask what will you give up from you class that is given to mages? Your asking to get the ability to have all summoned gear on your pet (a mage only ability), which includes very useful things like a haste item. What will you give mages in return?
  12. Razorwulf Journeyman

Mana regen? basically what we give all other classes. We also have a few abilities which increase groups pet damage.
As for mages, we use mod rods, damage shields and some shared pet boosts
