Boxing Is The Plague Of EQ

Because a TLP and the progression operates at a different pace and has a different economy? We again arrive at the impasse where you refuse to accept that other people might have valid reasons for making their choices (and not so subtly go so far as to conflate boxing with cheat codes).

Ahh, so you do play an MMO because of the people. Or why would you care about the economy, that is driven by the presence of other people. Boxers want the benefits of a strong community but they don't want to make the sacrifices required to make that strong community. They would rather be self sufficient. Boxers only enjoy the TLPs because there are so many non-boxers out there strengthening the community bonds. Ya'll should love truebox, it is what gives boxers an advantage over the regular guy. If everyone could box easier that is all anyone would do. Path of least resistance and all.

Boxing is exactly like using a cheat code. I don't think using cheat codes is some evil thing or some sort of moral failing, nor do I think boxing is moral failing, but people use cheat codes to make it easier for them to complete the game's content. People box to make it easier for them to complete the game's content. How are those not comparable?

Either way, I have no desire to get pulled into the boxing debate again. So I won't be responding any further. You refuse to accept that for many, boxing has a negative impact on the community and why they choose to play on TLPs. I do accept that people have valid reasons for choosing to box. It's because it gives them an advantage over others in a social game. They don't have to share their loot, they don't have to search for groups, they don't have to be bothered by waiting on others. They can have all the advantages of a community and none of the downsides. It isn't rocket science why people choose to box and why they choose to box on new TLPs. Gotta have lots of single boxers to sell their wares to or it just isn't any fun.

Yes, you box for the same reasons everyone boxes. I completely understand why people box. Doesn't change my opinion of it or it's impact on the game. You box in a game designed for you to have to rely on others so you don't have to rely on others. You circumvent one of the core features of the game, interdependence on others, because you don't like that feature.

Boxing is not cheating in any way....

It is a fun way to play EQ.

IF Boxing is cheating get Daybreak to make that announcement and I will leave and never return...

    Boxing has never been cheating...

They fact you want to conflate it as such says a lot about your selfish nature...

Please force everyone else to play the way I approve of.

I never said it was cheating. Using cheat codes isn't "cheating", per se. Cheating is morally wrong, neither boxing nor using cheat codes is morally wrong. Designers literally build them into the game so people can use them. Many people find using cheat codes to be a fun way to play certain games. They just have the unfortunate name of "cheat code". It is a thing designed to be used when people find the game too hard. People box when they find the game too hard to complete with a single character. Just like a cheat code.

Boxing has nothing in common with using a cheat code...Now you're just being stupid

It is exactly like a cheat code in ways I have already laid out. Sorry if you find that offensive. I didn't mean to accuse you of being a person who uses cheat codes. For what it's worth, I don't think less of you for using cheat codes, some folks just need a little extra help (or toons) to play the game. It doesn't make you less of a player.

You consistently refuse to accept what you don't want to hear. Boxing is indeed essentially sanctioned cheating.

I could play a necro and never group at all if that were the case...lol

Uhhuh, suuuuuuuure . I completely believe you box because 1 character is boring. You have convinced me. I stand corrected, I apologize for suggesting you box because it makes the game content easier.

Can we just all agree that pocket healers are just a necessity, if you want to play the game at all.

Get help, seriously. You're so self righteous and delusional that its kinda scary. You've spent the last 4 pages projecting some kind of superiority derived from your own refusal to accept that people are different or have different motivations than you.

Boxing isn't cheating. Setting your boxes up to farm platinum while you are asleep and run unerringly through zones to the next spawn to kill it as fast as possible and ignoring the other people engaged with that NPC is cheating. Playing a rogue isn't cheating. Yet I couldn't get a group due to accusations of pickpocketing the mobs clean. This was when mobs were rumored to have a separate pool for loots and pickpocket. Getting into a guild was no guarantee for grouping.

Back in 1999/2000 on my first character I had the worst time finding groups. I was working in the semiconductor industry 12 hours days 4 on/4 off and the next week 3 on/3 off and then back to 4 on/4 off and so on. I was tired after shift and would still get a few hours playing after I got home before sleeping for the next 12 hours on GY shift. I had little time to lounge around looking for a group. Kunark came out and I made my second shaman on a second account since the shaman on the first account couldn't also be on at the same time as another character on that account.

All within the rules at the time and now. There were numerous times where I grouped with others with my trio or even just with one character and the higher level druid and enchanter outside the group. There was no FTP then. I could write a book here and I know some people can't handle reading too much.

"easier"... you think EQ is hard?

Something doesn't have to be hard to be made easier. Easy things can be even easier.

    Interaction ...
Grocery shopping involves interaction with other people
Going to the sports bar involves interaction with other people
Going to church is all about interaction with other people
Going to the gym involves interaction with other people
A job requires interaction with other people

If interaction with other people is a desired outcome I wouldn't play an MMO to do it
