I'd buy a used, enterprise-class laptop. Display outputs : DisplayPort or VGA.
Whatever you get I swear by back lit keys for my boxxed toons - really makes swinging arms around in the dark a tad easier, backlit num pads too.
Surface Pro works great for boxes, even all the way back to Surface 1. If you want a box for raids without turning all settings down I'd recommend at least a Pro 2 i5.
