Wow a monk offers encouragement saying gratz on your situation getting resolved, and makes a joke about how his class is hurting and you feel the need to speak ill of him? Would think a fellow dps class would offer more support as was offered there. Guess I was wrong.
  2. Fury Journeyman

Your interpretation of Maeraex's statement is generous.

What did I say that was wrong?

At first I took your statement as a joke, but after the second person made his comment it made me wonder if your comment was along the same lines. Hard to estrablish voice infliction in text, I appologize I shouldnt have looped both of you in the same catagory. That was my bad.

I've been reading the Monk thread, but I've not commented in it because I don't play a monk as a main. While I agree that the class leaves a bit to be desired in raids, there are quite a few things about monks that I like. If I were to post in the thread, it wouldn't be to point out any of the deficiencies of the class. Rather, I'd try to point out the advantages. The issues really stem from what monks bring to a raid, but they are much better suited for soloing and grouping. No class can have it all.
  6. Naugrin Augur

Not true. Some classes can indeed have it all lol.
  7. Tanecho Augur

I think every class should have a place in group or raid (or solo for that matter). Now, their roles can vary somewhat between the two, but everyone should have a role. That said, I hope this sticks for berserkers, I look forward to a day when all dps are equally desired.

Everyone does have a role. Just some fill those roles better than others. Example, I CAN tank group content. But, that doesn't mean there aren't about 8 other classes that can't do it better.
  9. Daedly Augur

I began reading this sentence and totally thought you were gonna go MLK. I have a dream!
  10. Maereax Augur

I'd like to apologize, I wasn't intending malice, I was really more joking than anything. I came to say grats, and we're glad you guys got the fix you needed/wanted/deserved. It really wasn't a hijack-attempt or anything along those lines, though I can see why you'd think that. My bad guys. Carry on with your bad selves.

As far as tanking like a monk, absolutely. I obviously can't help give you that ability, but I don't see why you shouldn't be able to.
  11. Songsa Augur

We don't want clones classes, we need to pay attention to that.
Each class have their own strength and weaknesses in different aspect of the game (solo, group, raid, survivability, tanking etc...) all that is part of the class balance and dps we can deliver is influenced by that.
I do agree though that monks need some help at least in disc refresh and burn situation and that berserker weapon nerf was not needed at all with quick burn fights not very common these days and difficulty to use some discs/aa to max their dps.
  12. Gragas Augur

Our combined still sucks, 45 secs of "decent" burst, then rest is wait until discs are up (they will not repop before raid boss is dead) while rogues discs refresh and they get more burst to add to their combined. Am hoping that new AA's will make us competitive as a class again.

Also, unless the ratios are actually bumped up a bit for T2 weapons the ratios are still dismal and still not an upgrade from HOT, once again feedback was given in beta but Chandrok evidently does not care. Knight 2handers are still better ratio even though they are not a "2 hand specialist" class. Not to mention there has been no hotfix or patch to restore the craplicious ratios back to where they were.

Also, as previously mentioned in beta forums among other places, no 2 hander DMG aug upgrade (still stuck at 16) increase while duel wielders get another 10 dmg aug makes us as a class lag behind on combined.

No HHE that other melee get to keep up while ruchu etc. are down also makes our combined lower.

Our "new" BP click still being worthless is another issue that has been posted about repeatedly and yet no response from any developer.

No heroic strength on any 2hander even though berserkers can only be played by large powerful races and heroic strength on rogue only weapons makes sense to Chandrok.

And once again the pure melee class with the least utility is stagnated because of some parses on a rooted mob and someone's personal agenda, but yet none will confirm or deny that this is actually the case of this stagnation, just a wimped out "concerns about high burst DPS" excuse.
  13. Langya Augur

Well, nice to see one of us melee DPS be cut a minor break. Still, on the long run, the current design of raids overall favors those who can safely send lots of damage at a target from a very safe distance. Our job is add mop up more often than not while those ranged people whittle away at the big target. Granted, getting adds dead ASAP is a vastly important job that favors burst dps and slacking on it is a good way to fail an event, it may plant the seeds in the mind of some people as being menial. On targets like NTOV, while there tend to not be adds other than Vulak, other fun mechanics again tend to favor those who can avoid the rampages etc.

We melee have our time in the sun, but it is not all the time. More like 50% or less. Rogues do OK. If we are well geared, experienced and have an attentive healer we can still do some decent damage to send the ranged attackers a reminder that we are still here. Same for zerkers. That is if we melee are not dead. Monks... I am gonna take the safe route and not comment, as I don't play one. All I can do is speculate that the mend ability is still considered something to balance against in the eyes of the devs.

The relationship to how classes are balanced vs. content is fairly murky at best. Most raids and group stuff always tend to favor some combos of class abilities over others either by design or through ignorance. There is never any hard fast rule but as everyone knows, those with the acumen to see where the advantages are and min/max accordingly will typically reveal the flaws in the classes and the inattentiveness to it. If it is inattentiveness at all. It is more likely that content is designed to be beat by a worst case scenario of class make up and thus forgives the devs of any need to do much fine tuning to classes as all that slop in the tolerances of content design doesn't require it. Maybe it is a race to the bottom a lower game population requires, but it is still a race to the bottom. Meanwhile there are still people upset about class balance issues being ignored. Thus you have guilds with perfect rosters smashing whole expansions to pieces in days because for them with the perfect roster everything is child's play. It was not so long ago that you needed a perfect roster to beat ANY raid and the win was well earned through perfect play and just the right makeup of raid force. Class balance had to be precise or some events might not be winnable. Not so today. The dev's can argue that the content is being beat, raiding in more accessible, so how much of an issue is class balance?
  14. Rogue Augur

Aren't the ToV dragons belly casters?
  15. Langya Augur

They are. It adds annoyance to casters but its not a deal breaker. Pure melee still are not the prime movers damage-wise on those fights. The combo of high hit points, the mob mechanics (especially the max melee due to rampage) severely dilutes the perceived effectiveness of pure melee. A bunch of abilities don't even work at max melee.

So i have been playing a zerker for well over 6 years and been playing eq for over 10. i am in an end game raiding guild and have never posted here or felt the need to post until now. I love the zerker class as they use to be able to top parses as they should. Zerkers have been declining steadily now and makes me want to switch classes. what is the point in playing a class that can only do dps if they get out dpsed by other classes that offer more. Zerkers dont have spells, we cannot heal slow or do anything but swing a giant axe and use AA that hurt us to burst our dps and we still get out dpsed by other classes that have beneficial abilites to improve survival such as beastlords . Frankly as a zerker vet i am highly dissapointed in the way the zerker class has been dumbed down to just ok dps. The only reason i play a class that can be easily killed for the chance to do great dmg is because they use to do just that "great damage". this is no longer the case with zerkers. Seeing talk of lowering zerkers even more makes me want to throw in the towel all together. I sure hope that there is someone who reads this that can acually make a difference and can be an advocate for zerkers as there appears to be none.

I guess maybe as my guild has beaten the expansion and vulak you could call us a top(ish) guild, so heres my view on things right now.

Berserkers are to relliant on others, right now we are not getting the support we are used to because all the fights are long sustained fights where even a small increase from bards to the caster groups results in massive increases to guild damage that berserkers can not match. Our sustained is an issue.

SUSTAINED DPS, it can be broken down into 2 sections:

Endurance regen: Our fade is too long and we consume such large quantities of endurance we are often out of endurance on ROF events before 30%.

DPS output: We are not competative with a bard as our base damage is too low, we seem to still be balanced on sustained around the flurry bug, which has now been fixed. Without a bard we are horrible when it comes to sustained, and extremely likely to be beaten by beastlords and other classes i would consider tier 2 dps.

Dev perception, this is really becoming not funny, they see us as dps machines that we simply are not and continue to give us no real help (see above issues), i would really like a dev to follow some top end guilds around to get a gauge of where berserkers actually lie.

Glyphs Part of the issue imo is glyphs, they do not effect us equally, for berserkers they are pretty weak, but for necromancers or wizards that are prepared to burn them they can skew figures massively. Restrict the power of these is the first thing devs must do balance classes.

Cant think of anything else right now, but i hope the devs will take note of my comments.

Last beta i even wrote the devs asking to become a beta tester, but it was closed. They will hear feedback from a select few - not because of the value of the feedback but because of how its represented.. the more you sugar coat things and round your replies the greater the chance of being one of the few lucky.

If you're rude they don't really care to hear that, but if it's constructive they will tolerate it to some point. If you've actually been in beta before though, you know very well that the feedback is rarely ever sugar coated and the same people being blunt tend to be the same people always in beta.
  20. Norathorr Augur

The problem is that these abilities and the detrimental effects they have on the class someone needs to be rude. I have seen transcripts of the last discussion on the berserker forums. The problems are explained and the desire to practically use the abilities are expressed and the dev gives the clueless arrogant response of 'use it'. They are losing players through their own arrogance and stupidity. I played since kunark and have been through hard times as a paladin and also later as a berserker. I always made the most of my classes, but with abilities like frenzied resolve its Impossible to shine unless a mob is permarooted. The poor decision making and constant dismissal of constructive polite criticism has left guys like me exasperated and no longer playing. My only remaining option is to be a little more aggressive with my position else I simply will never play the game I have loved for years again.
