Bard Melody with Dichotomic Psalm

    Does anyone have a new recommended melody setup (for a melee group) incorporating dichotomic psalm?

    I still tinker with my melodies from time to time to see what works.

    The longer cool-down songs like Dicho and Crescendo are near the end because if you interrupt a melody to click epic or are stunned or whatever, it will mess up your melody if you put those two earlier on in the melody. the /alt ability in my keys are for a tune stuck in your head which is needed for those two melodies to work w/out skipping a song really.

    Burn Melody is for burning with the two DD songs. I also twist in Warsong and aria along with Crescendo and Dicho with my burns for the group, though if you want a true burn just twist aria and the 2 DD songs :p

    I have a third melody for when A tune is down, but I honestly never really bother swapping to it because I'm lazy and dont care if a song drops here or there for a second or two ;p

    The 6th song can be swapped for whatever you like really, an ae song or another spell focus song or perhaps Dobens/psalm if you like. Whatever your group makeup is or what other bards are twisting in a raid determines that really but what I have in the pic is my usual Melee setup.

    2 = War March of Jocelyn
    3 = Fjilnauk's Song of Suffering
    4 = Arcane Melody
    5 = Chorus of Sionachie (or another song if this is already covered by another Bard)
    6 = Silisia's Lively Crescendo
    7 = Dichotomic Psalm

    If you are singing more than 4 songs, I always put Aria of Maetanrus in my melody twice since it will drop if you don't. If your just sticking to 4 songs, then your melody would look like:

    I'll add a copy/paste of this post since mine is slightly different from Lanadili's (her's is perfect). I recommend manually hitting Dichotomic Psalm whenever you need to (like after someone dies), since a lot of things can interrupt long melodies and it sometimes takes a while to get all the way to the end.

    Thank you Zak, Lanadili and Sirene.

    Do you have a set up for incorporating requiem, or your mezes?

    Also, I have a hotkey that basically hits my epic, then hits A Tune, and then goes into my main melody. Do you incorporate those in a similar way?

    Do you recommend altering the caster lineup if you have a necro in the group? I have in the past but I have no idea if it is better than what I am taking out.

    Horthin's Psalm of Potency is the song you want to twist in for Necros. If you use siren's lineup there I'd put Horthins 2nd, drop ae warsong and put arcane 4th, and drop dobens for Pulse.

    My epic key has Epic click, Cacophony and FE in it, something else too but I can recall off hand at the moment and can't log in to check. I wouldn't put a tune into your epic key, put it into the melody keys that use A tune like the long melody or Burn melody and an AE mez key.

    I rarely ever use the bard slow because I box my warrior who has the slow proc belt, but before that I didn't bother too often because I would usually have to twist in Harmony with slow to get it to land, and by the time it lands the mob is mostly dead with the exception of named perhaps.

    For the single target mez I just have a simple key with a stopsong and single cast of mez and manually tab through my targets I want to mez. You can just quickly tab to the target to mez and pop the mez key, then tab back to the mob you are killing once mez song had started while the intended mob was on target, ie you don't have to stay on your target until the song is done casting.

    /cast 6 (single target mez)

    As for AE mez, I put in A tune /alt activate into my ae mez key, which looks just like my single target mez but with A tune in it, as well as a personal messege either in group or guild saying /gu AE MEZ. That messege triggers a GINA trigger for me that yells at me when to refresh ae mez.

    Horthin's is actually useless for necros and it's not worth wasting a song for it. It's post-crit, flat damage, ie < 1k dps. I prefer my bards to run Aria, Arcane Melody, Song of Suffering, and Doban's (and of course dichot), with the Aria aura. Anything after that is extra, I let my bard run whatever else he/she wants.

    Hello Fellow Bards,

    Late in the game on this response but, I too hate long melody lines. As Sirene mentioned I keep all my melodies short. With that said using a hotkey as follows allows me to control Dichotomic Psalm and keep my melody short. I also keep my songs loaded in a base format based on group needs (Necros, Melee DPS, Caster DPS and Tanks) and name them as such. IE all melody sets are for example /melody 1,2,3,1,4,5 and loaded spells under name.

    Necros: 1= Aria, 2=Suffering, 3=Horthin's Psalm, 4= War Chorus, 5= Arcane Melody
    Melee: 1=Aria, 2=Suffering, 3=Dobrin's, 4=War March, 5=Arcane Melody

    "You get the point " customize as you prefer your song loads and you don't need to make a lot of variations to your melody. Of course there will be special circumstances which you will need to drop a song and replace but do it in your spell load makes for simplification and keep in mind ghost casting etc depending on your spell load so will need to test before running out and missing a note.

    Like Sirene has listed with slight deviation Aria is in spell slot 1 the double cast in the melody allows it to refresh without dropping.
    Now on to Dichotomic Psalm example Dichotomic Psalm loaded in spell slot 10 your hotkey would look like this.

    Additionally can throw in timer command of 600 to refresh your hotkey when Dichotomic Psalm is ready to recast.
    Name: Melody I
    Line 1: /Stopsong
    Line 2: /pause 30, /cast 10
    Line 3: /timer 600, /stopsong
    Line 4: /melody 1,2,3,1,4,5

    You can use this with just about any single cast like Wave of Torpor, Requiem of Time etc. additionally have others with same concept for burns, nukes etc. Hope you can find this useful.

    By the way, I recall when Suffering and Spiteful were first introduced they did not stack... That has since changed. I missed when it happened but noticed depending on your group composition you can run both Suffering and Spiteful without them overwriting. Of course it's dependent on group composition but ie War, Sk or Pally tank and pet casters it works wonderfully.
