Wow. Log in at the start of each expanison and look around. Just because u missed a fire sale doent mean everyone should miss out. For those that checked mounts in the db window we got a discount live and learn. Each expansion go check the wondow. Dont give me the bs it is out of era. Everyone that saw it put money in to buy the thing , you knew mounts are 100k in game. Just sad i missed a deal take it back from everyone db *tears...

TBH people are mad about this because they've been dumping kronos for the last week to buy mounts. Some of the angriest people about it wouldn't care even a little bit if it hadn't been for that.

And, to be honest, if this is the thing that keeps you from trying Phinny I'm not sure it would have been the right decision anyway. It's hardly the biggest deal.

This is also pretty frustrating for the folks who put the time in on Quarm only to have that mount basically suck relative to this dirt cheap one. I say slap the Puma's buff on the Quarm mount but I imagine that would annoy another set of people.

    And just to add...

It does not appear to be giving the same AC to everyone. May be influenced by soft-caps or something similar.

On my monk, I'm seeing an AC increase of 25pts at my normal gear level. I took off a couple hundred AC worth from a bunch of gear, and saw a 35pt increase. Caster friends using it in normal gear saw about a 45pt increase.

So, to start, it's not supremely overpowered AC.

Secondly, there are other mounts available still with what appears to be the same AC boost, they just cost more currently.

So, there is nothing really to complain about. If you want a stat boosting mount, you can get one. You're not suddenly being oppressed by not having this one.

If the mana stone went to everyone who paid 10 dollars for one then i'd have been pissed about that too.

This is straight up Pay to win. These buffs were designed for live EQ and they are completely innapropriate for Luclin era "Exclusive" or not. In fact it just makes it worse that the determining factor in who got one is did you happen to log on at the right time and pay USD for it.

As far as I'm aware buff-granting mounts are still available; they just aren't as cheap as you'd like them to be. (And who paid currency for it? I'm pretty confident most people used the DB Bux they get as part of their subscription, which they're required to have to play on the server.)

How do you feel about 100% WR 40 slot bags? Those are totally out-of-era and only available for cash.

I totally agree with most people here but I'm surprised no one mentioned this:

WHY DOESNT the quarm mount give stats? WTF.

WHY DOESNT the quarm mount give stats? WTF.

WHY DOESNT the quarm mount give stats? WTF.

WHY DOESNT the quarm mount give stats? WTF.

This here, I had a lot of fun on Quarm experiencing content I did not see live. But the main reason I did it was to get a mount to use on Phinigel. To have that whole experience invalidated by mounts with ~2 items worth of in-era stats on them is frustrating.

I don't have a problem with mounts being available, but the fact that they have so many stats on them vs something that you had to put some effort into did indeed cheapen that experience

You're misunderstanding me. Those buff granting mounts are just as bad. I never said the puma mount was the only offender.

It's a joke. DBG can never again make the argument that they want to remove some item because it's out of era because they are hypocrites who only care about "the integrity of the game" when it isn't making them money.

Bags are fine because DBG needs the money and its a convenience not a straight up stat boost. Illusions and graphical models are also perfectly acceptable to sell in the marketplace. Shoot even non-stat mounts would be fine. This could be easily fixed by making the stats not effective until the expansion they were introduced.

Was this mount supposed to be on the Market for the server? Was there some announcement? Or was it a fluke?

Meaning, was there actually supposed to be some sort of PR thing to get people to play Phinigel when Luclin opened, and you could get a mount for a low price before it disappeared? (if so there should be a link) Or was it an oops and not supposed to be there so DBG pulled it?

That should be the question more than to penalize people who got it.

It is not the biggest deal, it is the final nail. I now completely view the TLPs as pay to win. Use of store bought xp pots to level, forced by slow expect and faster xpac unlocks was one issue that kept me off Phinny, in the first place. Providing little support to stop automated gameplay by people farming items/plat in areas like Rathe mountains (or so I've read here) was another. Picking and choosing what items/features were in the game was another. I really couldn't care less about the mounts, except for the fact, they allowed some people to purchase one at a specific price, and then without notice, more than doubled the price.

This was probably a plan by DBG to get their developers, friends/family, and guild mates a buffed item... Internally communicated that they need to buy it "soon" (hint, hint)..

Daybreak equivalent of insider trading, in my opinion. Know people? Get the inside scoop... never miss a ""bug"" or "broken" mechanic you can exploit.

Not really the same thing. These weren't some rare in-era drop. They were sold on the cash store.

They've done flash sales in the past that were advertised in game and showed as limited time/price reduced. This was likely a mistake.

The Dev's have time to make smiley faces on other threads... Yet on a thread with real issues for a premium server we are all paying extra on to play... crickets...
  15. oldandnasty Augur

Why should they? Really, DGB can do whatever they want with out it effecting the profit margin. EQ is a beloved game, with a sometimes insane player/fan base. I, myself have stayed away since Phinny launched and yet still have the urge to come back if mostly just to talk with friends who are playing on the server. The game has a hold on some people that can't be broken. The game is antiquated by todays standards and the expansions have been poor but the people who play form friendships that people long for. No matter what DBG does people will still continue to throw money at them if for nothing more than the community.
  16. jiri_ Augur

I'd hope it wasn't intended. I'm on the side of the people who think stat mounts shouldn't be available on the server. And tbh I'd have preferred that the marketplace be disabled completely.

I just don't think it's worth getting up in arms about, and find the idea that this event, this one singular thing, ought to keep someone from playing on the server faintly ludicrous.

Oh please. Paranoiac conspiracy theories aren't useful.

Just give us all /claim mounts
  19. Banecrow Elder

Ger the F over it people. Mistakes are made, stuff got added to the marketplace that shouldn't have been. It happens, people are not perfect. Hell remember when Velious got release a week early by mistake??

First, you're wrong. Second, what do you care? Is it a competition for you? Who are you competing against? Looks like you're just looking for a reason to be old and nasty.
