Are all Mercs the same?

I mean, if I hire a dwarf tank, will he be as good a tank as a big beefy ogre tank? Are the all the same or do some races make better mercs depending on what you want to do with them? In my case, tank.

Race has no influence on merc performance at all. It's just the visual skin. Things that do influence merc performance: your level, the tier of merc, merc AA's, and merc gear.

Which would also mean for example; Ogre tanks are not immune to frontal stuns...as well as other race specific abilities/immunity.

They all equally suck...

Iksar have more ac and atk. That said, I havent used a tank merc in a while because they really do suck.
