Aradune Box Limit Clarification

Discussion in 'Time Locked Progression Servers' started by Vargr, Dec 4, 2021.

I play with my wife on Aradune and thinking about renewing the sub on a 3rd account. Given we would have 3 accounts on the same IP (me boxing a 2nd account and her playing one), will we be flagged for rule breaking and suspended?

There are absolutely no restrictions, none whatsoever, on any server, on the number of accounts you can play at the same time. There are simply mechanisms in place on Truebox servers that attempt to prevent you from using third party tools to control multiple characters from one PC, such as preventing those tools from working outright and the "truebox detection" kick that will knock all of your characters offline if the game server believes that you are attempting to circumvent the Truebox rule. Whether these mechanisms function in a way someone believes is correct or not is immaterial to your question.

You can load up as many accounts as you have computers to handle them. You just might need to set up your keybinds across characters in a way that reduces the chance of the truebox kick happening. For instance, if you have all three characters spamming 1 as their most commonly used ability, eventually you'll hit the absolute perfect timing enough times to trigger the kick. The more accounts you have online all spamming the same key, the faster it'll happen.

If you can beat truebox and answer an afk tell you can box 100 if you want.
That's the stance on the servers.

Not true - Aradune has a 2 character max limit. https://www.everquest.com/news/eq-tlp-aradune-rizlona-2020

Incorrect. Aradune was specifically designed with a two characters maximum per player. Of course the enforcement of said rule is spotty, but it's still a rule.

As for the OP's question, here is Dreamweaver's response from last year:

As someone who plays on Aradune: As said above, the enforcement is spotty, but if you are in a group of three you need to be prepared should a GM send you tells and expect at least two different people to respond. The two-box-per-player limit is clearly stated in the ruleset. Now that the server is in OoW and the Krono farmers are gone, I expect/hope the enforcement of this rule will tighten up a little.

From my understanding, there should be no issues with what you intend to do, since it will all be different computers.

Thanks for the input, that helps a lot

The server pop is dropping and everything is instanced now vs OW and you expect the enforcement to ramp up? Not the typical direction TLP servers take...

Yes absolutely, because the places to look for the offenders are in PoP and the guild lobby, when it arrives. It isn't necessary for GMs to troll instances. What was the point of having this rule for the server to begin with, if they intended to ignore it as soon as the enforcement becomes easy?? To me, and to other players who chose to roll there, it's a case of false advertising if they ignore this. And if that's the case, what then is the point of hanging on to Truebox? Hmmm.

/agree, let's drop truebox when the OW stuff goes away.

They advertised from before the server launched that there would be extra GM enforcement on a trial basis that they would not guarantee past the first few months of the server. It's not false advertising to do exactly what they said they would do ahead of time--more enforcement at the start, and less later on.

The operating word there is "extra". That was supposed to curtail the various OW Krono-farming abuses of which we are all familiar, and which didn't seem to have any real effect. I don't think anyone seriously expected all GM enforcement to disappear entirely once the "extra" trial period expired, I certainly didn't. The category of enforcement I'm talking about takes bare minimum effort, and there is supposed to be some GM presence on every TLP still running.

    No, thank you.

Boxers have literally every other server in the game to do that with. I chose Aradune specifically because of the Truebox ruleset to avoid box armies.

Irrelevant of the can you, should you, will they allow you, etc dealing with this topic, keep in mind that the customer support for EverQuest leaves a LOT to be desired. This is why bots exist on every TLP running 24 hours a day with near immunity while other people get suspensions for the least little thing.

Friends and I have been false flagged before. One time we were even kicked and got a week suspension for susposedly being AFK when we were all in Discord talking to each other playing the game. Logs were sent in from everyone in involved and a day later, they admitted the GM was wrong and reinstated us. We were lucky. Some others don't get that kind of fast response if any.

I say all of this just as food for thought when you do anything on this game. Customer support for this game is bad to the nth degree, and they treat you like they don't care. You are guilty until proven innocent when it comes to this company.

That being said, don't confuse DEVS/Designers with Customer Support. They are two separate entities. I have had Devs tell me before in private that they do not agree with some of the crap that CS does.

So, is it ok what you are saying? Yes.

Can you get suspended anyway? Yes. With this company.... most certainly. You can get suspended for doing absolutely nothing, and it is up to you to prove your innocence when that happens.

I meant drop truebox on all truebox servers eventually not just Aradune. Also how is it working out for you avoiding box armies? By all accounts Aradune didn't fair much better than any other server in this regards even when the GMs were present.
  17. Machen New Member

Not sure this is necessary for Aradune when Rizlona is a transfer away...
  18. Tweakfour17 Augur

Fair, but Aradune is the only server with that option. The other TLPs would all benefit from dropping truebox eventually.
  19. ExecutionDbl9 Shadow Knight / Necromancer / Druid

Truebox shouldn't be dropped. Boxers have literally every other server to play on with their box armies. There's no reason for them to invade Aradune or other truebox servers as well.

As far as how it's working out for me? Aradune is working out great. I can get conversation in genchat during my downtime, I've been successful in finding groups with real players at my level, players of all levels have been very friendly and helpful, and overall I'm having a great time on Aradune. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've encountered people that I knew were boxing (and it wasn't armies, by all appearances they were following the truebox 1-per-computer-2-per-player rule), and never once has it been anyone I've been grouped with or engaged with.

You never been on a TLP, doesn't matter what the ruleset is beating truebox is the norm on every TLP even Aradune, the only people it punishes are those that don't have an understanding on how to navigate it due to less technical skills.

Every TLP will have 3 to 40 boxers no matter what rule you put in place, the only people who really suffer are those that want to 2 or 3 box without extra pc's etc.
