You overestimate the usefulness of zam...

Zam has saved my characters' bacon more than once.

Zam is the first resource I go to when I need info on EQ. So it is extremely useful.

Don't forget to reply angrily to them and call them names for being wrong 15 years ago, I'm sure they still come back every day to check that comment for replies.

Is there a chance that Zam could change their ads to not be total garbage / malware?

We fixed an issue with ads via chrome about a month ago and didn't see it pop up again after that. Anytime you guys start seeing that malware crap through ads on the site, please let me know right away. I'm usually logged in working on the site doing stuff or developing so I don't see the ads. I log out and check every now and then but I don't catch it all. That crap pisses me off to no end.

ZAM is still working on everything folks. They had to transfer recovery data first to another location so they had it available just in case the hardware failed again for some odd reason. By the way, they do plan to move the site to AWS soon to prevent stuff like this from happening again. I will be working with them through that whole process. I run guild sites on AWS myself.

I'll let ya guys know if there are anymore updates.

Hurrah ! While I haven't had to rebuild a server, I have had to rebuild desktop computers. Not an easy task.

Players contribute to that site and i use it mainly as foot notes for returning back to different era's etc..In 1998-1999 we would keep notes on everything, maps came out soon after and we would mark locations. Really is no classic anymore. I still enjoy doing the quests once in awhile.

I've been missing it, although it's pretty unusable on mobile and malware ads are frustrating. Hopefully all this will be fixed whenever back up and running and switched over.

If you use google you can just hit the down arrow and click cached to access the page.

We're testing a few more things out today but it looks like we'll be bringing the site online today. I'll let you all know when that happens.

DNS is being moved over for the site now. This may take a little bit to propagate out to your DNS servers. If you don't know what that means, the site is online but your ISP may take a little bit to update the route to it.

Well at least SOMETHING that has to do with EQ can come up today.... Now if you could only make the game servers come up... lol
