Alternate Persona

Seeing as they're able to lock /claims until expansion appropriate unlocks, I don't see why this wouldn't fall under the same restriction.

MMM thinking a new AA route

goto fort mech pull entire zone
100AA in 10 minutes or less
swap to main character level 120, use AA
    swap back
    wait 20 mins for respawn
    every 30 mins 100AA

    unless of course
If I can't hot swap in another zone besides a PoK like zone.

I don't think creating a new persona is going to be the same as a claim. It would make more sense that it would work just like the character creation screen currently works.
  4. Waring_McMarrin Augur

It is very likely that all experience you earn on a persona including AA will be locked to that persona making that impossible.

Was thinking tradeskill AAs, I still don't have those maxed out.

Hmmm, so almost everyone can do alchemy and poison making now interesting.

If you chose gnome you chose right!
Well, I guess you can't be a shaman, so hmmm

If you chose Erudite, no new tradeskills.
Froglok, Vah Shir, and Barbarian races are the winners in this category. 2 new tradeskills If your not a shaman or a rogue.
  6. Sissruukk Rogue One

I don't think you will gain the new tradeskills if you choose a persona that has them as its base. They pretty much said in the producer's letter that you keep the tradeskills you have, not learn new ones based on your persona class. I mean, I could be wrong, but I don't think this is how it will work.
  7. uberkingkong Augur

If you get your own AA per persona.

    What about tradeskills?
    Do they poof?
If you have a 120 and 75 persona, are AAs spendable on tradeskills?
  8. Randomized Augur

Is it technically not the same thing? Both locked until the expansion they're available is unlocked? I'm not 100% sure how the character selection thing works. Never cared to make a Zerker nor have I tried Gnomes :p
  9. Waring_McMarrin Augur

I would guess that your class choices will not be limited by your race and you will pick a class and race when creating a new persona. This means that you could get all tradeskills on a single character though not sure how they will handle them when you are not the correct class/race.
  10. Waring_McMarrin Augur

The pre order page indicates that personas will be available on TLP servers and the guess is that it will be limited to the same race/class combinations that are unlocked on the server.
  11. Sissruukk Rogue One

Again, I don't think the tradeskill AAs will poof. But, I could be mistaken. Don't get me wrong, you are actually starting to bring up some decent questions, it is just too early to give you the answers. It is still just speculation at this point.

Features still a work in progress (check out on beta in the future):
    • New Spells, Combat Abilities, and AAs
    • Alternate Personas - Swap between different classes quicker without needing to go by another name! With Alternate Personas, you can swap to another class while retaining your name, inventory / bank, crafting skills, keying and much more!
    • To all of you who join us on Beta, thank you for taking the time and for your feedback. There will, of course, be a beta reward if you earn enough tokens.
So no idea if AP will be ready at launch but also in the work are new spells combat abilties and aa's so not sure how much we can read into that. Although Beta says only GMs can use personas right now I I guess they are still in alpha testing?

Same although I like to read beta overall even if I don't have time for it. Still have to decide if I want to spend the money to get exp for all my accts but thats just a money thing. Not seeing anything putting me off the expansion.
  14. Waring_McMarrin Augur

Most likely they will just be limited to the persona that earned them like every other AA.
  15. Brildon Augur

If, if they went that route, which I don't think is that likely, they would probably go with the OMM system over the animal shrouds, or I think they'd use different terms then the AP system as it really would be just shrouds 2.0

OMM every class has a set race/gender like female dark elf mage, male erudite necro etc.

Though until we hear anything different, my bets are still on we get to pick the race with each persona (alternative is stuck with the class choice's of your mains race but I think that is less likely as well)

Yeah real roleplay has pretty much died out. What some say something is not roleplay now its really "this ruins my sense of disbelief".

I remember the hardcore roleplayers in Ultima Online especially the toons in their orc masks. Since there wasnt any real orcs. Talking orc being orc.... but then Ultima was a lot closer to the heyday of D&D and a larger percentage of players were from D&D backgrounds.

Also the complexity added by race change marketplace items, what happens if you change to a race incompatible with one of your personas?

You can illusion to any race. They could just hand wave it. That is my preferred route.

If you do need to have personas of different races and buffs stick (probably not) my farming the Vah Shir illusion mask as a Vah Shir will finally make sense...
  20. uberkingkong Augur

All classes can be races hrmmm.

    Roleplaying

It's getting worse and worse and worse and worse

    High Elf beastlord

sounds nice and all but its breaking the game even more.

Remember why I say we should do EQ3

EQ is in a lose lose
EQ makes new changes but loses its classic vibe, only certain can be beastlords.
If they don't change so can anyone can be anyone its not modern times like other games.
Only way EQ can win is doing a storyline, an ongoing storyline. Make features like ships, ships isn't going break the old game. High Elf beastlord thats gamebreaking from the classic EQ. no weight coins, thats a factor in classic EQ, theres a reason why certain items weigh so much and so on. Roleplaying. Realistic. Your in the game adventure with too much loot.

    Lose Lose

People going to remember some totally different game when EQ keeps doing changes breaking the storyline/roleplaying design part From High Elf beastlords, no weight coins, parcels, and so on and so on.
