Absorbing an alt as a Persona

Discussion in 'The Veterans' Lounge' started by Rylak, May 1, 2024.

Back in the December 2023 FAQ, it was mentioned that the Dev team may at some point look to provide a pathway to pull an alternate character on an account into the primary / main character on the same account as a persona - retaining gear, AA, tradeskills, and inventory I believe.

Just wondering if this is planning to go anywhere, or is it too much of a logistical / coding issue to be realistic given current priorities. Thanks for any input.

    Take a guess, lol?

We have no plans to do something like this now or in the future.

The answer in the same as in the 10 other threads which asked the same question.

the whole point of personas was to create more opportunities to sell heroic characters, so absorbing alts directly undermines their primary purpose.

Short sighted. You could sell a token for more than the cost of a 100 Heroic character to make this happen.

    Big fail then.

Maybe make a viable way to level personas from 111-125 then please

    That's disappointing

I guess the effort to code this offsets any money they would make with it.

Dissapointed here as well as a player with two amazing toons on the same account and one stranded only because I wanted to move a few heirloom items using account to account transfer. So a double whammy here, company removes A2A xfer and can't play the other toon as a persona. "Feel free to reaquire with gameplay"

Personally, I don't get the advantage of having personas over an alt on the same account. If someone can enlighten me I would appreciate it. Is it just that you don't have to log out? I don't know the mechanic of switching though so that might not be it.

Here it comes in upteens time:
I have a cleric alt, level 125, with progression and clickies. I do not play it, it is just a buff bot.
I will make a bard or mage (or both with a ranger ) persona and actually play it.
I have a shadowknight alt I've made just to split TBL FF mission mobs with FD. Many years ago. It is level 125 with gear, progression and AA's.
I will roll a bard/ranger/mage persona and play it more.
I have a raid geared zerker. I love my zerker. It's awesome. But it sits out on missions as I do them tankless.
    So I will roll a bard/mage/ranger persona.
My pally alt is leveling up a beastlord persona.
My tricky raid-geared rogue is leveling up a ranger persona.

I want to play those alts, they are just a wrong class at this time of EQ. I will switch to more useful personas and keep earning progression/augs/gear with them.
I do not want to make new alts, I got enough of alts, too many alts.

The advantage is some aas and long quest rewards are shared between one character. Also if I am running around in LS on my main toon and a no drop item that noone in my group needs but my alt could use I have 2 opinions. I could log off my main and onto an alt and loot the item to use on the alt which takes a while or I could just loot the item on the main and use it on the persona with no extra time wasted running the alt to loot it. The only negative is achievements that give exp can't be repeated.

Upteenth time huh? Somewhere in the jumbled mess you just wrote I think you are saying you keep progression when you swap to a new Persona? Gear? AA?

If my asking a question inconvenienced you I do apologize.

This is a minor benefit, but one benefit is that it doesn't use up a character slot. This is useful for things like tradeskills because I can create single-purpose characters without having to use a character slot. For instance, I want a gnome for tinkering, but I don't want to use up a character slot for a tinkerer that I'll only use once in a great while. I can also create Druid and Wizard personas to port the characters on my other accounts. I wouldn't want use up actual character slots making Druid and Wizard alts that I only use for porting.

Yes, this question was asked and answered before. There is nothing wrong in asking it again and thus I have answered.

Progresion - yes. All achievements, zone flags, zone keys, etc are inherited by personas. Obviously class/level/race restrictions apply.
Geat is actually the same. Entire inventory/bank is used by all personas. Persona is not a new character, it is purely mental, so all actual items are exactly the same. And as such, your level 1 new persona can click on your Jann's Veil, latest expansion mount and familiar. Can use your Drunken Stein etc. Whatever is usable/clickable at lvl 1 works. And you get level 1 with 8500 HME without any gear, just self-buffs. Also, jorneyman compass and Bloodmetal Totem work. Those just need to be clicked and activated.
AA's are more complicated. Basically - those AA's with are "autograntable" need to be earned by new persona (or autogranted". Those wich are not get inherited. Such as tradeskill/item AA's.

On the flipside, an TS Alt can buy their own 3 houses for storage.
Can a persona buy their own homes or are they the same as the Main characters?
  20. Waring_McMarrin Augur

You can also make an alt just for the housing without needing to do things such as level needed tradeskill trophies again.
