What EQ Christmas Means to Me:

My fondest memory of EQ Christmas actually occurred back in 2008. I was deployed to Iraq and was lucky enough to get to take my leave during Christmas with a few other folks in our unit, we had to spread out when we took leave so that everyone wasn't gone at once obviously. When I got home I did the typical things, spend a lot of time with family, caught up with close friends, took some time for simple pleasures that we didn't have over in CENTCOM like hamburgers, not feeling like you were melting in the heat.....one of those things was logging into EQ for me.

I didn't spend a lot of time in the game, just logged in one day to see how things were, let old game friends know that I was still doing well, just dropping back in the states for 2 weeks then headed back to finish out the tour.....a lot of people offerred me gear or help to keep caught up but I declined, I didn't think was really a point since I would be gone another 7 months after leave was over, but knowing that the Christmas spirit and kindness traversed across my real world and my virtual world was nice, especially considering what I had to go back to in a few days.

EQ has always been a place to escape from RL, and one Christmas season back in 2008, my virtual world and friends were able to reach out to me during the season and show me the best sides of friendship and humanity. That's really it.----

Didn't see that the contest already closed but wanted to share anyways :)

Everquest and Christmas is a time to be with the ones I love and hope my fellow brothers and sisters in arms are safe and get to be with or go home to their Families safely. I have met a lot of good folks on EQ, some only only, but some we have made an effort to meet in person, and it has always been so well worth it.
I enjoy the company of those who play and the time we get to share. I hope that i too am fun to play with and spend time with whether on a task or just xping for fun.

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday, logged in or not. I look forward to a fun new year and hope to see you all there.

Merry Christmas you filthy animals! (whoops, sorry, I am a SK, that slips sometimes)
    Happy Holidays EVERYONE!!

Thanks to everyone that participated in this! It wasn't absolutely perfect in every way, but nothing ever is and I'm confident in saying that the net result was overly positive. We hope everyone had as much fun participating as we did hosting! Also, thanks to the Valhallah members that threw in on the fun with independent prizes of their own!

Since we are human(!) and do make mistakes(!), I'm going to give everyone a look at the spreadsheet that we used to keep track of everything: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UUUPGDTkNspsH5fbe9uSGK-PGp7OERuxsYFkM91K3Jk.

If you're listed as winning something and haven't received your item via parcel, please get in touch with firiona.Gotcharms, Zlauk, Bleve, Huggiebare, Lunatess, Colypso, Mallakhi, and/or Slivern (or just post in this thread!). We'll reference the logs and look into it as best we can. There was a minor error that happened already, so anything is possible! Hopefully that provides a look at why we couldn't answer every single tell (but still tried our best nonetheless!), as we were incredibly busy trying to keep ourselves "on task" while still having a good time with it all!

That said, thank you to everyone and the safest and happiest of holidays to all 'yall!

Thank you so much for choosing my flow chart as a runner up!
I was online for the event but, being in the UK, after a couple of hours I was too tired to keep going (it was 3.30am!). I didn't win any of the trivia, /ran or running around prizes so this is awesome!!

Thank you so much guys for running this, it was ridiculously bigger and better than I expected. I'll contact one of you guys in game when I can catch you today!

Happy hunting and MERRY CHRISTMAS FV!

If the “Shield of the Sebilisian Phalanx“ miscommunication caused someone else to lose out just send me a ping and I’ll glady pass it along. Loved the event, thank you very much for hosting it!!

Wow! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart! I really did not expect to win let alone win the grand prize. While the 100m plat is most likely the greatest Christmas gift ever there is also a lot to be said for having your story chosen as the best. My mother was a writer and I am sure she is looking down at this with a huge smile (and a critical eye for grammar lol).

Thank you to everyone at VH for hosting such an amazing event (I vote VH takes over the decision making for DBG, jk ;)) Congrats to all the other winners.

I also really wanted to express how cool it was reading other players stories. It was a way to get to know some of the people I have grouped with or in some cases am currently sharing a guild with. This was a neat exercise in getting to know each other. Merry Christmas to all and have a Happy New Year!

To me the holidays is about giving, celebrating another year, and enjoying life. Over the years EQ has done all of this for me. I was out on my own at 16 as my family moved nearly 800 miles away and I did not want to relocate so I stayed behind with a good friend and his family. EQ came out 2 years later and I was instantly hooked. With no family near me I would spend many of my holidays by myself with this amazing community.

Helping to give back to my community has always been important to me whether it be in real life which is why I became a nurse or in EQ where if able I try to help others even if they are complete strangers. One of my fondest memories is from helping a returning player with some tradeskill mats. He was trying to create some cultural gear and I had most of what he needed on hand. Without hesitation I parceled him the items not thinking twice about it. Several months went by and this player grinded his way to the top and he never forgot that I had helped him even though I had. He returned the favor by gifting me a couple of chase loot items even though I never expected anything in return. In return I would lend him krono's when he was down on RL funds which kept him playing. Its moments and players like this that really make this game and community special.

Christmas brings an end to another year and in the EQ world this means new content and a fresh start for many players. EQ has been therapeutic for me over the years. I am a compulsive gambler. Not something I am proud of but it is what it is. EQ provides an environment for me that keeps me out of the casino's and at home and might have actually saved my marriage although there are so many accounts of people getting a divorce due to MMO's. I also work in a high stress environment where I see and deal with things that would traumatize a lot of people. EQ is my escape from these things helping to bring balance in my life and keep me mentally and emotionally sound.

None of the above would be possible if I did not enjoy my time here. This community has been like an extended family for me over the years. Even if I don't know any personal information about the various individuals behind the character I still feel like I know some of them on a personal level. Feeling proud of their achievements and having empathy for them when they fail. Even if I don't have much time to play with others over recent years this game is still about the connection to this community and wishing all of those in it success.

With another year coming to a close I wish everyone good fortune heading into the new year both in real life and in this amazing virtual world. Every one of you help to make this whole experience possible and for that I thank all of the players and the developers for their contributions over the years.
