Im all for Hard content Not Unbeatable content that was push to us as an Anniversary raid.

Ah, well that wasn't what the OP expressed. Having been absent from the team at the time, I don't know what expectations were set. I am not, however, a fan of setting expectations and not meeting them. If that happened, then I can only offer my apologies.

Hard raid? how about one no one has beaten yet, hard is fine, impossible is not. Why most guilds don't even attempt it anymore, mine tried it once and now saying forget it. It may be a permament raid now but still. By the time we will be able to beat it the drops in this raid will be obsolete.

Reminds me of the Over Tuned content we moved away from in Underfoot and The GMs said so even after telling us for months it was not over tuned.

Underfoot was very badly tuned. No excuses. In the case of the anniversary stuff, it appears to be tuned pretty close to the design. /shrug. As easily noted just in this thread, whether the intention was good or not will probably be debated until the end of time.

We were going to try War again tonight but due to server lag and instability it is being called off. Once that is fixed we'll continue bashing our heads against it. Speaking of the lag and instability, do you have any information for us on the situation, Absor? Thanks.

The most fun I have had raiding in the past few years was during Underfoot. It felt good to win and the events were fun. Convorteum was awesome. Yes we did most of it at lvl 90 but still. The last 2 expansions were bleh to me in comparison.

From what we can tell, the PoWar raid isn't buggy. It's just very hard, and may or may not be realistically possible to beat. There are some changes from the SoD version that are kind of annoying and make it harder. I'm not sure if some of the more subtle changes are intentional in their impact, but the obvious ones are clearly intentional.

UF had some very buggy raids that were impossible to (legitimately?) beat. And plenty of raids outside of UF have been unintentionally difficult due to bugs or "unintended effects". Look at the Tower of Rot raid, a chunk of its difficultly is because something in the event is causing most players to lag down to 2-5 fps. It's technically beatable, but I don't blame most guilds for not wanting to deal with terrible frame rates for long enough to execute a working strategy.

What you should really be mad about is not having an anniversary raid. You got other content but next year, people will be asking, "What was the 15th anniversary raid?"

You say overtuned, I say it was Awesome.

You realize that if the content that was fun and enjoyable at lv 90 then it was hugely overtuned for lv 85, right?

Also: if you did it at lv 90 then it was already tuned DOWN BIG TIME. It was retuned after UF tier 7-8 remained unbeaten by anybody 6 months after UF was released. Nobody even got to see Convorteum until the expansion was tuned down across the board.

I'll never forget the frustration of watching a raid-geared warrior die over and over and over as we tried to finish the first flagging mission in Brell's Rest. Turned out the first one was the hardest.

I really enjoyed Underfoot. I didn't get to raid Convorteum as I had an EQ break forced on me by external circumstances, but everything up to the Brell raid was engaging and fun.

It got closer to awesome after launch, but at launch... not so much so. :p

The problem with UF, and many other expansions (raids too i.e. DoN), was not that it was overtuned but rather that they had one of the hardest group missions in the entry zone.

When people see that they can't beat the entry zone, they expect the rest to be so hard as to not be worth the time to explore.

The Devs need to be cognizant that the expansion is progressively harder as you continue through an expansion. Not have it front loaded with hard content that blocks many people from exploring the majority of the expansion.

RoF is another great example of this. Tier 1 and 2 are considerably harder than tier 3. I can molo anything in tier 3 except names but get my handed to me in tier 2 zones.

PoWar is NOT too hard. It is completely doable as designed (2 group content). My question is why create 2 group content when the game does not support multi-grouping unless in a raid setting.

If Sony wants to continue developing multi-group content, then fix grouping to allow multi-grouping without the need of setting up a raid.

The second issue with PoWar is that it is a non-instance zone. Requiring multi-grouping (by groupers at least, raiders can single group the names) in non-instance zones causes so much grief and bad behavior that many people just avoid the zone to avoid the a**hats

Him hard group mission in the entry zone? I actually felt the brell's rest group mission was pretty easy, granted back then I was in raid gear but I think one of the most important things in underfoot (and underfoot was enjoyable if you brought it with you) was bringing a good CC class.

The convorteum 12 man group mission was pretty rough when it was current, we beat it (but it was with raiders), the group content actually was a lot of fun even before nerfs imo, I loved underfoot and didn't much care for alaris. The biggest flaws with underfoot though were the bugs and broken stuff that got pushed live like the broken mid tier raids that literally were not beatable for quite awhile) and also the original version of volska's husk was quite unpleasant (6 min respawn time on everything and the mobs were quite difficult by group content standards at the time).

The original version of grunkuck was also an unpleasant experience for a lot of guilds (though I know a few guilds beat it pre-nerf *not counting the one guild that beat it with the island exploit*)

Oh and I'll give an honorary shout out to the tradeskill brells temple raid, most people don't even like tradeskills in the group game, why on earth would they like some cryptic tradeskill raid that has a 15 min time limit with lots of rough killing while trying to do combines? :p Trial of Creation was probably the worst raid in UF from a funfactor perspective, I imagine it was 10x worse for the person doing the tradeskill combines :p

Ok... the raids sure, but the group content was fantastic in its unadjusted form. < I preferred it when EVERY mob in Underquarry saw invis.
