Using the same base as you did, I tried it with various multiples of Ink of Alacrity Invigorating thickener instead of Talisman Other combos of Ink of Zek, Ink of the Rhino, Ink of Rainbows, Ink of Druzzil Ro (even though there's no good reason for them to be part of the recipe) and I agree - why this spell, why now? There is so many other things they could do in research (like fix all the orphic card issues)
I have been trying in a prayer writing kit and a spell research table. Unless they decided to make an exception of this one spell, it shouldn't take a song writing kit, all spells, songs and tomes should be able to be made in any research container. I've tried different level papyrus, I've tried papyrus manuals...I've also tried other random things, like using different additives and different inks - I even tried two quills since there is one spell out there with that error - all to no avail.
Corrected in next weeks patch: - Correct an error in the paper used for Song: Warsong of the Vah Shir.

Golly, that the Sooty version being used in a final recipe does not bode well for any other new EQ recipes. /cringe
