Any info on the UI update and/or the conversion tool ?
  3. Waring_McMarrin Augur

That patch is next month and we will likely hear more after the next live patch.

Significant changes to the Wizard's Wildmagic Strike line appear in the changes on EQ Resource, but there's no mention of this fact in the patch notes.
  5. theonepercent Augur

They said it would go on test in March, possibly during the true up patch.

The banestrike change feels ... large, very very large.

Are we sure this isn't super game imbalancing? Especially for newer players?

I don't have actual data on how much banestrike currently contributes to dps*...but after looking at how the ranks are unlocked (individual banestrike is 2%, and each set of progressive/highly decorated/force of nature unlocking another rank) I don't think I like it.

Just from an initial glance, it seems like too much of an impact.

I'll definitely be cynically looking at some parses before and after this change.

*I've always just ignored it, because it's not a result of anything I actually do. And it still wouldn't be, but a percentage mod certainly feels like a bigger impact than just an occasional proc. For example, it would seem that a high dps person having a percentage mod is going to benefit from the change a lot more than a low dps person would. There's a layer of "what's wrong with that, the higher dps person is trying harder/more invested..." but it seems like just another way to make balancing hard.
  11. Brickhaus Augur

My parses for a melee-ish (paladin) and a wizard are between .02 and .04 percent of dps parse over thousands of mobs.

Maybe someone got confused about where to put the decimal point ... so 2% really meant .02%. If that is the case, then it's probably okay. If it's actually 2%+, then it's 3 orders of magnitude above current ability (before considering critical damage) and way overpowered ... regardless of that Beimeith thinks.

I wonder if the key to why Banestrike is being changed lies in the phrase, "as well as reduce zone latency caused by its previous functionality". I, and many others, have asked for efforts to reduce lag. Our wish may have been answered in part with this.

It had to be done. Banestrike rework had been on the anti-lag to-do list for quite some time. In most cases, you will have to kill 1000 of something just to get the 2% bonus, so I don't see this being noticed by returning players who choose to level from 1. Is the 10% ceiling too high? That's a question for the parses of current content raiders.
  14. Brickhaus Augur

I'm pretty sure that's the reasoning behind the change.

Checking to see if a proc occurs must be way more computationally expensive than a new add to the calculation of every damage happening in the world on the player's side.

    Thank you! Interesting....
  18. Emilari UI Designer

Banestrike, as it was (currently is still on live) also had tons of hidden calculations. It's not just the proc... changing it also removes each calculation it had to do to check what race your target was for example... there's hundreds of different races in EQ... 16 player races alone.

The change isnt just removing 1 proc calculation, it's removing a lot of calculations, and all for the better in my opinion. This is a very nice change.

It seems to be working fine for 2% and 4% levels. I don't have anything above that to look into. The end result would be basically like increasing all your focus AAs by another 10% so it is pretty strong.

  20. mh272 Custom UI Updater

This is so good, not only do I NOT have to go to my eq folder looking for uierrors.txt anymore, but you don't have to see all those"EQUI_xxxxx.xml not found in directory UIFiles\<customUI\. Attempting to use file from Default skin." anymore. YAY!
