So I am considering starting a new character on Live with the intention of getting up to raiding status eventually. I have live experience, but the highest I got was a necromancer, enchanter and a wizard to 105 and quit during the Broken Mirror expansion. I want to roll a new character on a server I’ve not played on before and join a raiding guild I’ve been watching stream recently. I know it will be an arduous process, but is it feasible to level all the way up solo? I’d use a merc of course, but I honestly can’t afford more than 1 gold account and boxing is something I have not much interest in, but would do if there was no alternative. I’d need to relearn how to play on live, as I’ve been on P99 for years now. I have read the Hero’s Journey is a good way to go about it. Autogrant AA on too I’d imagine? Could I level a wizard decently? They are in high demand for the guild I’d like to join. That, or an enchanter. I do have a 90 bard on a separate account I could box once I got that high, if needed. Also, is there a good list of "must do" quests/zones for certain augments, gear? Thanks all!
Which server is that guild on? It makes a big difference if its TLP or live. The reason I ask is they do get confused. Make contact with that guild and ask them if you can join now after you get a couple levels, and at least be in the guild to get to know everyone. As you progress up then they may offer to help you. This is the budget method: First month buy the cheap version of the new expansion. $35.00 (do this now cause you will need it down the line and it will be harder to balance paying for that and paying the monthly sub. Although free accounts to get up to TOV expansion free anyway if the guild is into raiding that much then they will be raiding the new expansion soon. Start with a free account and level up with merc. If you do the tutorial then the armor you get in there will last you a while. Do not buy any armor or other stuff from the baz - its a waste of plat and does not make that much difference. You can look up quests to get good armor and weapons free Second month then you subscribe if you want to, I would suggest to be level 85 or higher because if you are of that level or higher now is the time to turn on Auto Grant and get all those AA up to that level Continue with leveling and subscription and have fun! Mid budget method: Again on free account, Buy a Heroic (level 85 are $35 and the level 100 ones are $40) Even if your on a free account you will get all the AA up to that level of the Heroic you buy right off the bat. Without a subscription. If you decide you want the level 100 one then please come back here so we can explain the tradeskill issue on those. Wait on buying the latest expansion till you can afford it but sooner that the subscription (unless you can handle that and the sub in the same month) Continue your leveling until you can afford to subscribe
Awesome response, thanks so much. The guild I want to play with is on Xegony. On Bertox, where my 105 necro is, I have like 1.5 million plat. However, I doubt that would be any help on a completely new server unless I used it for a Krono, which I am unsure of price. I believe items through /claim are account bound and not serverbound, right? Also, are there "must have" drops or quests/augments that are recommended anywhere? Again, thanks all for the help! =)

I am amazed at Vox, and the community there. Even if I never get high enough level to raid, it is a wonderful server.
