March the 16th, 1999 March the 16th, 2024 204 days to go ! 344 days to go ! 537 days to go ! Plenty of time to create great things until then. What are your expectations for such a big anniversary ? A special expansion for december 2023 with a remake of all fourteen classic Faydwer zones ? New 3D player character models ? A newly found secret underground tunnel between Ak'Anon and Kaladim ? A mysterious curse that is removing all beards from dwarves ?
Mind boggling. We probably even have players today who weren't yet born when the game originally launched.
Im hoping for a new updated 3d-engine. They already teased us, by saying we were "on a path" to better graphics...
Hmm, that might be higher texture resolutions and more polygons and the new UI sure will also improve the look. As far as I have recognized, EQ is the (firmly embedded) 3D engine that was made for a (SOE ?) car racing game, and it could not be upgraded with an exchangeable real 3D-engine without revamping the whole project which would take dekades. Maybe Absor could tell us more details about that !
No expectations. I learned long ago to never expect anything from this game. It just ends in disappointment. Of course, maybe, just maybe, they will put the experience back to normal by then. But i doubt it.
Not to worry, it won't show right in the in game /cal and the forum announcement won't be for hours or days after it actually happens
Celebrate 25 years by pretty please designing a user interface that is 4k or other high resolution friendly.
So maybe never. Seven years and still in pre-alpha but it seems to be the only successor. I don't count in M&M because it is more a retro clone with modern technics that an evolution. 23.5 years and going strong.
We do! My kids play EQ - one born 4 weeks after Rain of Fear and the other born 5 months after The Broken Mirror launched. My niece, who was born shortly before House of Thule launched, plays EQ.
536 *bump* That is not spectacular enough for a 25th anniversary. Could be done just one the fly with a few bits which are saving the size status just like it had been done with permanent illusions and permanent pets. *gentle drum roll*
A new timeline has been generated which does replace A.D. by now ! (anno domini) We call it anno EverQuest = A.EQ. shortly before House of Thule = 11 A.EQ. 4 weeks after Rain of Fear = 13 A.EQ. 5 months after The Broken Mirror = 17 A.EQ.
