Just because it happened last year doesn't mean much. Other than you stating this about it this year, I don't see anything from the company about it. Nothing on twitter, nothing in the announcements section on these forums. What percent bonus exp? It's a nice surprise but something about it would be nice to entice those that don't play every day to either come back and enjoy the bonus or at least know this is happening.
The information was published ~ 2 hours ago, in game. One of the pop-up notifications. 76% increase to Experience, Reputations and Rare spawns. I believe, @Ashigaru posted in reaction to seeing that information.
Interesting - I didn't actually see an in-game announcement. Just popped on to do my morning overseer and noticed the exp had hiked
What is REPUTATIONS? Mine says Factions, Mine also says Independence Day and Canada day. So its not just the US!!!!

Yes, they frequently have the pop up go off in game as its on a pre set activation. Whereas the forum announcements are usually done by community reps and seldom show up before the crack of noon. Like after they have a couple cups of coffee
