New casino for Luclin Part 2

Were they that powerful in SoL? We are talking about items that came from previous expansions or did not even exist at the time. The glowing white/black drum got added in LoY which means they could not have been in the casino at the time. This also begs the question if the other items you listed were in the casino at launch or added at another date.
  2. Waring_McMarrin Augur

You should also be posting more data to show why people would want to spend all their plat at the casino. All I see adding high value items that players are willing to spend large amounts of plat on is increasing the market for players trading krono for plat which would just increase the amount of plat in the market. I find it very unlikely that the players who would want these items are the ones with large amounts of plat.

And please stop telling others that they can ignore your posts while refusing to admit that you can also ignore their posts.

King's Court Casino was introduced on 18 December 2003. Source: Fanra.

As an EQ player since Scars of Velious; yes, they were considered very powerful at the time (2003 and on). Mistwalker pet would hit for 130 damage. Fungus Staff would provide 10-15 hp regen at a time when Ceremonial Iksar BP and Fungi Tunic were still in demand (no OOC regen). Eye of Zomm for any class (way before SoF Eye of Zomm and Clockwork Automaton) is self-explanatory.

Am I proposing a new, revolutionary itemization model? Of course not. Am I proposing a sparingly implemented casino for lore, entertainment, and even plat sink value? Sure.

Platinum is destroyed when players spend it on tokens. It is the logical sequence of events.

You have the burden to prove that a casino somehow increases the supply of platinum by encouraging farms (beyond unlimited automated farming which can be easily addressed by banning cheaters).

Based on past interactions with community managers, they tend to support the original poster (thread creator) over someone trying to overly refute: i.e. bordering or crossing the line of a derail (or troll). With that in mind, I tend to limit my comments in innocuous or benign threads not of my own creation. Will there be times that I may need to defend my rationale (as the critic) with logic or data? Absolutely, it's only fair to explain one's position (not just face value opposition) within the confines of constructive feedback. I do not have the same level of respect for pro-cheat threads since there is a public policy benefit to defend and support game rules, however.

I didn't read most of this thread but I do have an item suggestion...

    Luck...

Right now to increase luck, you need 2 of the same item. This is a very bad system for raid armor in particular.

Making a casino item that lets you raise the luck of an item without requiring a second of the same item could be very popular. Also from a lore standpoint, getting more luck from playing in the casino really makes a whole lot of sense.
  7. Waring_McMarrin Augur

Yes, I understand those items are gotten through that quest, however considering your first list included items that did not get put in the game until LoY the question of when those items became available in the casino is valid.

No one is questioning that. What I have been saying is that more plat will be farmed as a result of people wanting to play in the casino then will be used at the casino itself. What is so hard to understand that the amount of plat that the casino removes won't come close to matching the amount of plat that is created in the game on a daily basis.
  9. Waring_McMarrin Augur

If that is your argument why are you so concerned about what I am posting? What is wrong with pointing out that it is unlikely to remove as much plat as is entering the game? As I have said before I think a new casino is great just that it won't be a plat sink of much value and that they won't introduce the chase level items that you are hoping for.

Sure you can point to a couple of items from the past but I disagree that they are on the power level that you are asking for. Not to mention that the original casino was from the 3rd expansion and a lot has changed since then.

So you are not even arguing that plat farming will increase?

Why would people farm platinum because they (in your words) "want to play in the casino" then not use it?

It is also bizarre logic to conclude that "doing something" (plat sink) is tantamount or worse than "doing nothing" (no plat sink).

    1. You present your face value opinions framed as undeniable truth with limited logic or data points to back it up. At best, it comes off a little intellectually dishonest. At worst, it is derailing or trolling.

    2. Understanding that we may be at a point of stubbornly entrenched ego-based positions, I have offered to "agree to disagree" but you persist in your disputation. I am not sure whether the behavior it is out of sheer boredom, trolling, or "I'm a dude who wants to keep my mind sharp or test my wits on these forums." Albeit, the level of exchange is fairly tame thus far.

At some point, you will have to "agree to disagree." If you refuse to, your interlocutors will assume that it is personal. (If people want to call me out for double standards, I have low levels of respect for pro-automation threads).

How do you get that out of what I said? What I have been saying many times over is I don't see the people with the massive amounts of plat that you are worried about being overly concerned with the new casino. I see a lot of people who might be wanting it will not have all the plat that they want to use for it and end up trading krono for that. The increased krono sales will increase the people who are farming the plat which will increase the amount of plat coming into the game. What this ends up with is that the overall plat in game will still increase regardless of how much is leaving do to the new casino.

I also never said it would be worse then doing nothing just that it will not have the impact that you claim it will have. In fact I have said multiple times that a new casino is a good idea and would be fun to add.
  13. Waring_McMarrin Augur

Pointing out that people will need to acquire the plat to play the new casino is limited logic? Pointing out that more plat will be introduced then is consumed by the casino is limited logic? Pointing out that people will trade krono for plat incentivizing others to farm more plat is limited logic?

I am not sure why you seem to think that the people who are going to farm plat are going to stop at exactly what they need for the casino. Or why people that keep large amounts of plat around are going to suddenly be okay with keeping smaller amounts of plat around after playing at the casino. In the end people will be replacing what they spend so they can use it on other things. The amount of plat in the game will always increase as there is an unlimited supply but a limited demand to remove it from the game no matter what you do.

Krono sales are a constant. Automated farmers are a constant (until they are banned). Rule-abiding farmers are limited by their time. A casino-based plat sink is a new variable in the negative.

I stand by my position. We can agree to disagree.

This exchange is officially the laughingstock of the forums. It is cringe. I'll take the higher ground and break off the conversation now.

And what is so hard to understand about the amount of plat increasing when the amount of plat needed increases in game? Why do you refuse to accept the idea that if players need more plat for things in game that they will farm more of it? Or the fact that the amount of plat that comes into the game increases each expansion? At best it would be a temporary drain until plat drops increase yet again.

I just find it amusing the the OP here is known for a hardline stance against so called cheating/3PS, yet here he is white-knighting gambling.

When he is here grandstanding for ingame prostitution then I think we should be alarmed.

I like the idea of +1 luck items in a casino. I'd also spend quite a bit of my hoarded plat to get a neat item like https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=118274...I'm sure there is other stuff too, but that's what comes to mind.

And for the argument that the plat hoarders won't use their hard earned hoarded plat because they won't be interested in the rewards, please consider that many of these plat hoarders have nothing to spend on plat except for krono - which the free spending casuals will be selling to get plat. (I can't imagine there are many people manually farming plat in this day and age) In other words, much of those hoards of plat that the ultra rich are sitting on will go to the casino indirectly through krono sales or directly through the offering of actual cool items.
