New TLP request

Yeah I agree Everquest requires alot of time investment to fully accomplish everything in era on a character. With 2 month expansion releases, especially in GoD onward requires you to be putting in 50+ hours a week at a minimum to get the most out of the expansion and even at that, it will still be hard to finish quests, AAs etc if you are raiding, before the next expansion hits.

TSS launch I could definitely see myself doing.

I disagree, servers like Mischief allows for equal and a stable capitalistic economy. As opposed to the super rich or super poor. We have an actual middle class on Mischief.

"Real EQ" has a level cap of 120 and 28 expansion. TLP is what it is, no matter how popular it is not what EQ was over 20 years ago and whatever the original code was then is long lost because the original dev'd didn't expect it to last more than a year after release. People LIKE free trade and random loot so why wouldn't they make another one?
  5. Boogatti Lorekeeper

No one likes free trade. They just like the expansions free trade is in.

It takes less than 48 total hours to get to end of any expansion in the first several years of a TLP.

If you are taking over 2 months and not getting there, then you are either really terrible at time management/efficiency or playing less than an hour a day on average, in which case, there is absolutely no way anything should be catered to your speed of play.

I'd say you were right prior to Mischief, but free trade evens the playing field. I love Free trade perfect combo of capitalism and socialism.

The thing here is people keep rerolling on these servers. In my experience people start to drop off around OOW and DoN. I know several people that during GoD that said they are going to wait to see what these new servers are about. If they release expansions based on lvls every 6 months that would be awesome.

Anyone who was anyone was done with live 2008-2010. Agree to disagree.

I can dig that point somewhat.

Now THIS is funny, a friend of mine who raided seriously through 2009 and whose "latest, greatest" game had pretty much died came back to play pretty smug. He became discouraged when he realized that his once top 10 character was not very impressive and then was overwhelmed by the content.

He thought he knew it all and had done it all.

He did stick and get back up to speed after a dose of humility and putting in the work and he's planning to app to a raiding guild soon.

You weren't done in '08~'10, you were a quitter

What happened in those years? I know personally for me, college happened so I stopped early SOD, but I came back in VOA.

Oh I know. 2009 came around and from everything I heard, UF was incredibly difficult and weeded out the bads.

Random loot is nice, but not required. Free trade is what makes the economies boom, so that is a must. Hopefully the new server at least has free trade. Locking the server at a certain point is just stupid. Stop playing at that point and let the people who enjoy that content do it, and move on to the next tlp.

Left dead servers for populated emulated ones okay... Not a fan of emulated anymore, but before Phinny that was the place to be. Like I said we can agree to disagree; apparently you seem to be on a much lower tier of MMO skill with all due respect. Smh.
  16. code-zero Augur

What exactly are you talking about? I'm not even sure what we are "agreeing to disagree" about. I've got lower skills because I didn't get intimidated by UF and go off to the flavor of the month MMO back in 2009? I'm pretty sure no one here has any right or justification to judge skills but if you are making a claim that the pinnacle of the game was the time period when you left then I can sure judge THAT

    or put another way
Arrogant & condescending in the extreme.

EverQuest is really not "skill-dependant" at all, the amount of skill-required is rather low & very easy to attain so your vainglorious attempt to lowball here is both ignorant & laughable.

The deciding factor in EQ player potency is knowledge, EQ is absolutely a knowledge based game & that is why when you take a significant break from the game you cannot just jump right in where you left off, you first have to take on board the vast amount of changes that may have taken place, you have to fill in the knowledge gap and that takes the time, whilst any deficiency in skill is very easily repaired.
And evidently you think you know a lot more than you really do.

1999-2006 was the haydays of EQ. By the time 2007 rolled around a good portion of folks had left. The game was still fairly enjoyable and relevant until 09ish though. You seem to be confused. Anyone who was anyone played vztz emulated, PEQ emulated, and P99 blue until Phinny came out. Ragefire was a garbagebox. Phinny was the first truly great TLP. How Emulated is even still up is beyond me. Thousands of subscriptions to be gained by DBG/EG7 shutting it down permanently. I certainly do have the justification to comment on people's skill level I've bested ever top tier player in this game worth a real mention. Is what it is bud. Still waiting for that sandbox game so derps can't hide in instances. Fun game though still. Enjoy your week you seem alright. I wasn't judging skill level; there aren't many players in my tier. The guy who woke Sleeper and stuck it to the nerds in FE was one worthy of mention. Anyone wants a piece come and find it. #shrug

Oh and to clarify a point that was missed. My friend who returned was not off playing some lame faux EQ server, they'd been through a notorious list of games including ffxiv, not that THAT is by any stretch a dying game, but if there had been an MMO hit the market you could be sure that he had tried it and spent way too much time playing it.

I'm not sure what he'd been playing recently that had flat died under him but he arrogantly thought he'd be able to jump right back in to EQ after 13 years or so away and be l33t again :p
