Free mounts

What do people do to get a free mount, doesn't need to be the best either.

I noticed you can get them via achievements, doing the expansion>General>Master of ___

Comparing them to each other I think TBM is the quickest? Is this correct? Some expansions want you to do the Hunter too, so even harder even though there is still a lot of quests/missions to do. Is there other ways to get free mount too? For any class, not talking about AA mounts.

Title maybe misleading, so Free as in not paying plat or DBC for it.

    Completing expansions is very long.

Easy ways to get mounts are to use Gold Tickets from loyalty tokens and once you have the set it can be used by all your alts.

Or see if Lord Seru is up and take him out. He drops a bridle.

If your in Sanctus Seru and he is not up then look and see if any of these four are up:

    Praesertum Bikun
    Praesertum Matpa
    Praesertum Rhugol
    Praesertum Vantorus

Each one also drops a bridle. In order not to get banished to the jail just send in your pet to attack first.

And Bonzz has a great mount page:

Nice thanks, got me thinking of Anniversary Quests for the mounts. I'm not sure if these are long grueling too, something I will have to remember to think about when Anniversary comes again.

So my thinking for farming for mounts, check Sanctus Seru and mass kill in Underfoot?
How rare is the Underfoot mount, my feeling is that its rare as the raid loot in ToL or maybe even more rare than that? I don't remember many people selling the mount, assuming it was very rare is why.

I suppose farming 9k plat to just buy a cheap horse is quickest, but earning the mount via drop or quest, it seems much more special. I want to earn my mount, via drop, quest, or faction.

Oh, good idea - I forgot about the anniversary mounts - They split the release of the quests so these might be in the second release.

New [Class I] Collapsable Roboboar 10th anniversary

Whirligig Flyer Control Device is 12th anniversary and fairly easy - someone on each server has to start the thing and then its open for anyone 24/7. High level folks will come and leave lots of the stuff just laying there for others to get.

I think I did check out the Underfoot one but had no luck so I went Sanctus route since there are 5 chances of any of those guys being up. And if they don't have the bridle they soon will. The Praesertums are in the 4 corners of the buildings. I usually go to them first before Lord Seru since they drop them more often than he does. And easier to get to.

If you have a lot of loyalty tokens built up and/or can buy the gold tickets in the baz that is another way. Or maybe someone in your guild can loan them to you. The second post on this link explains it

There's a few mounts on the anniversary vendor so you could farm tasks for the coin to buy them. The bear is pretty cool.

Isn't the Underfoot dropped mount no drop? Even on FV server?
  6. Eaedyilye More stonehive bixies.

Yes it's no drop. I have one after killing a mass amount of named mobs in the Underfoot. I'm on the FV server.

While not "technically free", you might already have a free mount in /claim. I think everyone who bought HoT-expansion got a free(but slow) mount, for example.

Paladin and SK have mounts they get through AA

I think a needed update is that the mount can't be slower than the player's base run speed. I can see mounts not getting selos, but being on a 10k baz mount shouldn't be slower than running with run speed AA.

Don't all mounts you own gain the same speed as the fastest you own and have used?

A mount is not only for transport, even a slow mount gives you "sitting regen", allowing you to meditate between spellcasts.

There's also Deathrider's Bridle that comes from Deathknell #1. It can also be turned from a normal looking horse to a skeleton horse if that's your thing

The Glowing Black Drum that CatsPaws mentioned is probably the easiest to get very fast mount in the game. If you have friends who have the tradeable items from the casino, you can get it within a couple of gold ticket turn ins with a shot at a dark elf illusion mask as well. The drogmor is a burden to sit on though. If you have a slow horse and the drogmor, the slow horse will go as fast as the drogmor.
    Caell and Tarvas like this.

Yes, but if you buy a 10k Baz mount and don't have a faster one, it will go 10k Baz mount speed, which is slower than run speed. I wish they would make it so your mount never goes slower than your run speed.

I basically used my first mount as a "combat-chair", and jumped off(and ran) whenever I wanted to travel...:p

Character run speed is based on level, AA, compass, weight and some other factors. The marketplace mount is 64 velocity/ fast. So it stands to reason that marketplace mount is faster than most characters run speed without those other factors

If a pre level 59 (not AA run speed eligible) character had SOF buff on then he would move at a 51 velocity which is slower than that bazaar mount velocity of 64.

This was posted a few years back when they added the Velocity affect that could be seen on your character screen -

    Feral Form - 51 velocity.
Form of the Howler - 49 velocity.
Greater Wolf Form - 51 velocity.
    Pack Shrew - 39 velocity
    Pack Spirit - 46 velocity
Scale of Wolf - 51 velocity
Share Form of the Great Wolf - 48 Velocity.
    Spirit of Bih'li - 46 velocity
Spirit of Cheetah - 64 velocity.
Spirit of Eagle - 47 velocity
Spirit of Scale - 51 velocity
Spirit of Wolf - 46 velocity
    Wolf Form - 51 velocity.

So overall I don't think most mounts go slower than your run speed unless your already at top run speed and can probably quest the raid mount
  16. Jumbur Improved Familiar

The cheapest mounts are actually a lot slower than Jboots, according to https://everquest.fanra.info/wiki/Movement_rate

A tiny bit faster than normal run-speed...
It is easier to accelerate/deaccelerate on foot, so running "felt better" though. :)
