Overseer Elite Agents change?

It is understood that overseer agents are random, but random non-exclusive elites are ridiculous considering the time invested in obtaining them. First, there is the time taken to recruit commons, and the opportunity costs involved. Second, let's consider the time and effort it takes to convert 27 commons to 9 uncommons to 3 rare for one elite done over and over again.

In the past few months, two of my accounts have converted over 325 commons down to elites. Both accounts had 10 elites already, so that means 10/14 of them are covered (#15 Fippy is store bought only). That should be 4/14 (28.5%) chances at a new elite. With 12 chances, there was not a single new elite. With the redo chances from the echos, there was not a single new elite. That is 20 chances before the second run of echos, and 29 chances when all was said and done. Not a single extra elite. We are not even talking about getting that last one or two elites. What the ....?

Please have a check for elites, so they are still random, but you may not receive one you already have, This is done elsewhere in the game, so the code should be available. Really, we are getting too old for this frustrating time sink.

I had both new elites the very first day they were added on both my accounts.
The harder part was the rares.
What youre asking for eliminates the option to retire an elite and down covert it into 2 rares.
    Hard pass.
I'd love it if there was a higher chance to get agents you dont have that was reduced once you acquired a copy but have no idea how hard that would be to code in.
  3. Bobokin Augur

You wouldn't need it other than to convert rares into other rares, and they could do that by offering a rare echo instead of an elite one.

I'm not asking for a higher chance; I am asking for exclusivity. If you already have it, you can't get it again. Only for elite agents. They do this with checking spells and in the casino for items, so it shouldn't be difficult.

It is unlikely a change will be made, but it most certainly is not going to happen without asking.

On one of my accounts, I had the two new elites the day they were added.

On a second account, I got both a few days later.

On the third account, I had a bunch of comman dupes about a month ago and did a bunch of conversions. Got both new elites on back to back conversions.

I didn't spend any money on agent packs, just racked up dupes via recruit missions and crits.

There's nothing wrong with the current method, other than the RNG is a fickle, uncaring god.

You just happened to get the two you needed on the first try on both accounts. Then you got them on another account on back to back conversions. Just like that?

Do you understand the odds of doing what you stated you did? Even if we didn't take rarity into account, that is ultra low odds. You hit on 14% three times, and then hit on 7% three times without misses? The odds of doing so are infinitesimal (.0000094). I'm calling that bull right now.

Yes, I racked up dupes and did recruit missions as well.

    325+ commons converted.
    108 uncommon converted.
    36 rare converted.
    12 elite chances.
12 Elite echos changed to 24 rares.
    24 rare converted.
    8 elite chances.
8 Elite echos changed to 16 rares.
    15 rares converted.
    5 elite chances.
5 elite echos changed to 10 rares.
    3 elite chances.
3 elite echoes changes to 6 rares.
    2 elite chances.

I did get a couple new rares, so it was 29 total chances at 4 of 14 elites.

ZERO elites when 28.5% of them were open.

Sounds like the magician who has killed 1000 plus dracoliches in WW to not have spawned Miscreant. Or that bard who ran around for days and picked up every collectible on the ground except for one. Or that warrior (pre currency) looking for that raid warrior only weapon for over a year to see none drop.

In other words... welcome to EQ RNG. Hope you get those last agents you are looking for eventually

    1. I never said I got what I needed on the first try. What I said was that on one account, I got both new elites on the first day. Know why? Because I had maybe 300 dupe commons that I spent time doing conversions with. I also spent a WHOLE bunch of saved up Overseer points on new agents from the merchant. During that batch of conversions, along the way I got both of the new elites on one of my accounts, not on back to back attemps be the way. I converted and retired agents many, many, many times that night, on all 3 accounts.

    2. I'm sorry you don't believe that I got both elites on back to back conversions on one of my accounts, but that's what happened. Didn't realize I needed to record a logfile of agent conversions to present as evidence. Believe me, I about fell out of my chair when it happened, considering how many months I've been trying to get them. And again, it's not as if I did only two rare-to-elite conversions that day and got lucky. Like before, I had a stockpile of common, uncommon, and rare dupes to work through. I had already done dozens of conversions and retirements during that session before I got them. I had done dozens of conversions/retirements on that account practically every week before that. And, I STILL don't have 1 of the new common agents on that account (though the other two accounts have it), after all the recruitment tasks and critical successes.

That's how it works. That's why it's called "random".

Actually, the statistical probability to receive 2 new of 14 rare elites from just 2 conversions is 4.0816%,
and to get it seconds time in a row on a second account - overall 0.1666%
Seems low, but once I saw a series of 8 hits 0 and 00 at a roulette table in Las Vegas (which is about 1 in 20 billion chances) nothing improbable seems impossible anymore.
Disclaimer - Roulette tables in Stardust (long demolished) were not truly random, but it was still fun to play.

I think you are missing a lot of understanding here.
When you downgrade an elite, you get 2 rares. when you downgrade a rare, you get 2 uncommon, when you downgrade an uncommon you get 2 commons.
There is a rare echo and its been there since day one.
You are asking for something that will benefit you right now, but I have already demonstrated that that would negatively affect other people.

If I somehow get every rare elite and at least one of every other overseer, do I gain any actual advantage in-game? Or is it just the ultimate thrill of knowing that I have, indeed, joined the ultimate elite class of folks who can brag that they have them all? That they are the best. That they are at the top. That their life is now even more complete in a very obscure and likely unexplainable sort of way.
  11. Cicelee Augur

When you die IRL, your obituary will list how many elite overseer agents you obtained. Also, your tombstone will make note of how many you have. Forever immortalized.

The only advantage a "complete" set of agents gives you, is a better pool to select agents from. It will probably increase your average crit-rate slightly, but thats it.

There is no achievement, not even a congratulatory "ding" sound.

It is more a "completionist flex", and doesn't have any meaningful ingame impact, compared to what you can get by just casually converting double-agents for a while.

Now that's good to know. I was hoping that it would give an advantage in doing a refi my home and maybe help me get more social security benefits like Joe Namath, but I guess my loved ones will be glad to know that my future obit. can be expanded. I know I can sleep better now.

Seriously, it seems like much ado about very little.

My last two agents I needed were a Common and a Rare. I recently got the Common but the Rare (Enynti) has eluded me for months with many, many conversion attempts. The two new Elites that were added were pretty fast and of course my first targets.

It's annoying to still need an agent because I can't start doubling and tripling on non-iconics until I get the last missing agent.
  16. Iven the Lunatic

Overseer has still alot issues and is an issue by itself. Waiting since months to get a common Impetuous Rover by quest rewards but it does not happen. Recruitment and agent conversion quests also was unlucky. The free player account has already four of them. The accounts have hoarded nearly 2k agents and I will never convert them for sure as it is a waste of time.

Took me awhile to get all the elites and even longer to get all the commons for me the worker wasp is the rarest agent in the game i got like just one on each account.

The way you talked up your achievements, you were making it look like that it was simple. Now you come back and say it wasn't so simple after all. How could we have missed that from your misleading statement?

You act like I don't understand what is involved here. I am well aware of how to obtain and save commons to process up to elites. Read my post.

Oh, really? Is that right? I just couldn't figure that out. Thank you for your insight.

I understand random, but I don't expect Everquest to be the same as opening three cases of Magic the Gathering packs to get those uber rares. It is a big waste of time.
  19. Bobokin Augur

I was responding to your concerns. I have not used a rare echo, but problem solved. I didn't ask for that to be removed.

How would it negatively affect other people, and how have you demonstrated it?

The only players with reason to complain are those who had purchased overseer packs in the DB Store to get more commons for fodder. Aaaaah, it is like Magic the Gathering after all.

I am just asking to have a look at this. Again, it likely will not be, but how else will Daybreak know what players think if we don't tell them?

At no point did I ever say or imply that it was "simple". I stated my experience in obtaning those agents. That's it. That's the love/hate relationship with the RNG. Sometimes you hit the jackpot really fast...sometimes you roll craps for an unusually long time.

You're the one that keeps talking about it being "simple" because that's what YOU want. You want it on easy mode. You basically want Daybreak to just hand you things you're not getting at the speed you want. If you're unhappy with the results you get from Overseer, just stop using it. But stop acting like you're some sort of victim because you're not getting what you want fast enough.

Anyway, I'm done with this conversation.
