Merc AA xp in Overseer not applying

First, playing on Test, no idea if this is on live.

When you complete an overseer task, and choose the option to take regular xp, it also includes a small amount of Merc AA xp. Usually 1-4% of a Merc AA point. However, this isn't applied unless your Merc is actually summoned when you complete the task. If the merc is stowed, the xp is just lost.

This isn't true when you take the Merc XP option, if available (Plunder, Military, etc). You can keep the merc stowed, and still get your Merc AA XP.

This was reported in this bug thread:
    https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq...g-any-merc-aa-experience.276115/#post-4042718
Devs didn't have anything to say on that thread, and it's likely not a bug.

I could be misremembering, but I think when overseer was first released, the regular experience option didn't mention mercenary experience at all. However, the regular experience always gave mercenary experience as long as you had your mercenary unsuspended when claiming the reward. That's due to a change that allowed mercenaries to gain experience when you get quest experience. And I believe that change happened within a couple months of the change to CotF HAs that moved the majority of the experience off of the npcs and to task completion.

Since mercenaries do gain experience when you claim regular experience from Overseers, DPG modified the description to show how much experience they would gain. But they still need to be unsuspended.

Yeah there was some patching going on with AA exp, merc exp and regular exp - splitting them apart, adding them together then changing so you only got a certain exp a certain way - don't remember what all it was but all three were shuffled and changed.

I would rather they spend time working on something else since this has a work around - just pop your merc (passive is fine) when you finish your quests.

Not really a bug, that's just how it works.

When you take the Character XP reward, it's just as if you had killed a mob/completed a quest: the character gets the xp, and the merc soaks up some of that. So, yeah, when you do a task/quest that gives the xp to the character, you need to have the merc unsuspended to get the benefit. I do think they need to change the wording on the reward to make it clear you need to unsuspend your merc to get the benefit.

Taking the pure Merc xp option (which no one should do past 110), that xp is going straight to the merc, and only the merc...because that's how it works.

The bug is the display text doesn't have a note saying the merc must be out for regular exp claims

The text between the 2 is exactly the same so it's easy to assume they should work the same

How is this a bug ? If you take regular xp why would you assume your merc would get xp if it's not active ? AFAIK mercs do not earn any xp unless they are active.
The 'merc xp' option in overseer is obviously an exception.

Why would you need a note ? That's how it works. Your merc only gets xp if it's active.

Because the same text in the mercenary exp claim does not require your mercenary to be out, so if the text is the same, why would you assume one is different
  9. Angahran Augur

Because one says your xp and one says mercenary xp ?

Why should no one take the merc xp option? Is it because mercs get more xp from the regular xp option?

You get something like 4x more Merc exp if you take character exp option then Merc exp option

So just make sure you have your merc out when you select this.

From 85 to 110, taking the Merc xp option instead of the charcter xp/merc xp option will net you slightly more merc xp...if you're only looking for merc xp.

After 110, the amount of merc xp with the character xp option dramatically increases. At 115, with the right quests and crits, and if there's bonus xp, you can easily get 10+ merc AA a day. You will never get anything close to that with merc xp only option.

My own personal theory is that Overseer development started when the max level was 110, and they didn't take into account how it would scale 111-115 (they're just not good with scaling).

    - Experience granted from quests, tasks, and rewards (non-kill sources) will now increase your Mercenary Alternate Advancement Experience regardless of whether your mercenary is currently active.

Nice fix to this in the upcoming Patch :)
