Why game-breaking patches on same-day as TLP launch?

This is Veteran's Lounge. Why are you complaining about anything TLP here? Sure there is knowledge, but who cares? Complain on your own forums. Patches are always patches and often things don't go right, I have 22 years of evidence to back this statement.

Is there some rule that says TLP players can't be veterans? Get off your high horse.

Well there is a dedicated section of the forums for TLP.

TLP forums also have a ton of non TLP posts.

No one ever posts in the right forum and does it really matter? 90% of the posts affect us all.

This may shock you, but not everyone playing EQ today experienced GoD 17 years ago. Some players get excited for "new" expansions on TLP servers even though they aren't technically "new." Mindblowing, I know.

That said, with so many TLP servers running these days, avoiding patch days aligning with expansion launches is not really viable all the time.

It's crazy how you typed so many words and didn't make a single point or say anything relevant.

The point that an expansion unlocking 17 years after it was originally launched and has unlocked on many previous TLP servers kind of makes it not special anymore. If something breaks in a patch it breaks and people still have plenty of time to complete the expansion.

You’re pretty naive to how the world works. A Tuesday lunch isn’t special to a business, but what’s special is ultimately up those experiencing it. DPG’s business is fostering and exploiting experiences. This was a conflict that existed for 18 months. Anyone with Calendar could’ve addressed this issue.

It's special to every one of the players playing on those servers. We get excited about new content, even if it's content we've all played through 10x before. It's an easy fix that should be a no brainer.

isn't the definition of Insanity doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome ?

TLP's same thing over and over ? hmmm ;)

Who mentioned anything about expecting a different outcome when restarting on a new TLP? The people restarting had fun on the last one, so they plan to have fun again.

They patch on the 3rd Wednesday of every month and each expansion is released on a set schedule based on it being a level expansion or not. Unless they change it to be something like expansions launch on the 1st Wednesday of the month in order to put them as far apart as possible this is going to happen eventually.

While I understand that it is exciting for the players on the server it isn't like they are pushing a patch expecting things to be broken and they are not going to change the patch schedule for every TLP expansion launch. In the end this is something that has happened dozens of times already and isn't something that gets much attention anymore.

Simply moving expansion launches to a different day of the week would solve 90% of the issue. They used to be on Monday (still are for the voting TLP's.) Monday is a good day, gives us a couple nights of stability before the patch on months where the launch is the same week. Friday would be fine too, servers are almost always fairly stable by Friday after a patch.

You didn't say which kind. How about butter pecan with nuts, caramel syrup, and whipped cream. Oh, and a cherry in top.
