Have the devs ever confirmed? I find it extremely strange.
  2. Riou EQResource

To limit casual players ability to box and to mimic the old days when computers in general weren't good enough to really box on 1
    Skuz and Tucoh like this.
  3. Loratex The Ridiculous Necro

To force us to play with the others instead of playing with our selves.

Nobody is going to stop me from playing with myself.

Wait. That came out wrong. Forget I said anything.

It's mine! I'll play with it if I want to!
code-zero, Yinla, Skuz and 1 other person like this.

To give an edge only to those with financial or technical means who are able to box regardless

A return to the glory days of the early 2000's when only the most legendary of neck beards could run a full group to camp rare drops.

It's how the devs prevent "Magefire 2.0", sorta.

This is basically it. It prevents an escalation of easy to manage characters laying waste to entire zones making it difficult to do anything viable. It's not a solution, it's a step in an arms race to slow down escalation. They know it, we know it. If you say a server is truebox and you see two characters you think that sure that's easily doable. As the numbers go up and are really stacked together and moving quite efficiently the probably cause sniff test is activated very easily.
