Hello! I've never played this game and I saw an advertisement for the new progression servers. I just paid the subscription fee to have all access and once I select the Mangler server and hit play, my screen goes black and I can't do anything. I did some research but I cannot find a solution to fix this. Most of the solutions are for private servers, etc. All I have done was ensure that the eqclient file has Windows Mode = TRUE.

    Thank you in advance!

If your running on Windows 7, 8, or 10 you likely need to install the Direct X 9.0c runtime. You can download it from Microsoft here. Once you've verified that's installed, try again. If you still get a black screen try running as an administrator and see if that helps.

Thank you! Running as an administrator fixed the issue. I could not download the Direct X 9.0c because Windows told me its not compatible with Windows 10 when trying to install it. Thanks again!

Having similar issues on Selo's. 1 character makes the client close as if truebox enfocement closure, but it never removes the character. It's not in world, but serverside believes it's there. I rolled an alt and logged in just fine to the same spot my main was standing to verify his nonexistence in the world. I could roll and log in on other servers. I deleted character ini / eu / even eq ui and ini files. Ticket filed also

and can we maybe get these all in 1 thread?

I am getting this black screen after server selection is made. I searched for this file DirectX 9.0c its no longer something that you can install. I have uninstalled everquest now 2x. first time it worked in old class look i do not want that look tried to pick different UI sizing and then i logged off to try to get in back into advance settings to review there and nothing. and got the black screen again. Any assistance would be most welcome and appreciated

This is your link to direct x 9c. It is still something you can install.

Look thru this post for what Skuzz posted for possible solutions. He is usually right. Don't ignore these tips because they do not match your issue exactly - usually they are all close to the same thing. Or just look up any posts by Skuzz since he has the best solutions for most issues.

some other things to look up
    • Running the game in windowed mode
    • Running the game fullscreen
    • Changing the game's resolution

Post your Logs\dbg.txt file for analysis.

im sorry but im not good with computers give me one and install game and let me log into it and play. its as far as I go lol where do i find logs\dbg.txt file?
  9. Skuz I am become Wrath, the Destroyer of Worlds.

You can right click on the EverQuest short cut on your desktop, click on properties at the bottom of that menu.

On the newly opened window you'll see the folder address displayed in the "Target" field if you wish to find it manually, or you can click on "Open File Location" to open your EverQuest Folder.

From within the EQ folder open the "Logs" folder to find the "dbg.txt" file amongst your character log files.

You can then open the dbg.txt and copy-paste the contents of that to this forum thread as a new post.
