   I wish there was a way to edit the soundassets.txt without the patcher putting all the sounds back.
   
   I'd love to turn off footsteps and thunderclaps and skeletons laughing and many other annoying sounds without having to turn down master volume.

   Just don't use the patcher. Problem solved.
   
   You only need to patch once a month. Replace it with your copy afterwards.
