Is it time for a Raid Design Team?

    1. We have several guilds that are built around "the race" and "the challenge" to become #1 in raiding content relative to serverwide or server.

    2. Live servers have more limited raids in part because of smaller expansion releases.

    3. We have a Progression server population that is replaying old content for several years.

While using old art resources and old zones, new zones can be made and designed. While bugs and scripting require work. Is it time that we had new content for Progression servers? Is it time that we return back to having more content for raiding guilds in these yearly releases?

GMM was excellent in that we got some surprise content added to the game in the middle of the year. It kept people engaged in the game more. Mid season release of some new content can and builds in interest from players.

However, I believe we need to look at different forms of design. While in a yearly release has different content, we can have more retro content or some weird, whacky designed raid content not tied directly to content.

I believe that if we could have raid content where players could suggest raid designs and concepts we'd like to see done, and then have a small beta test season, and then have mid season releases for Progression and Live it would help to keep more interest in the raid game.

They did this with things like Dragons, Dragons. Dragons etc etc. Not sure why they stopped doing those kinds of event content.

Progression servers are based on the replay value of old content. One part is arguing for new raid content to be released for Progression. Another argument is because there are fewer raids now with each expansion cycle, that having more raid content released would be more beneficial to raiding guilds. Especially, if these raids could be more experimental in design, whether for Progression or Live.

In theory, new content for Progression could allow for the creation of either expansions for Progression servers and "classic" Progression servers that do not allow for additional content.

The question is whether after the yearly Progression servers who prefer the old content would not want to see new raids designed for Kunark or Velious with new mechanics.

No, they need to add more group content and missions. It’s a more efficient use of their resources. Throwing more dev time at raids isn’t good business. Group content is an under utilized market.

The published numbers from sale were 66k Membership Monthly Active Users (MAUs). There are 42 guilds listed on EGL. Let’s say each guild has 60 active raiders with each owning 3 all-access accounts, that’s ~7.5k MAUs(~11.3%).

Raiding makes up too little of the player base to continue to over develop raid content versus group content.

You mean group content like the Unrest Mission that was released years ago built off of the old zone and having content designed by a Group Content Team for Progression and Live? Or do you mean Pocket Zones?

Who exactly are you expecting to pay for the new content for TLP servers?

Where are you expecting the devs to find the time to implement this new content? Even if designed by players someone from Daybreak is going to have to work on them.

Personally I'd prefer more group content over raid content, like much of the player base, I am getting too old to jump through hoops and move in 6 seconds....

Double post.....EQ forum lies....said it took too long and hadn't posted when it had!

EQ has one team, EQ development is mostly linear.

Each year new raids & new group progression is released.

If you want new TLP content all you have to do is wait for the next expansion to unlock.

If you are recycling through the same 4-6 expansions each year on a TLP, well you are complicit in creating your own increasing boredom.

TLP servers do not pay for new content, Live servers do by buying the expansion each year.

Any resources used to create *new TLP content* as in horizontal additions to existing content takes resources away from live game expansion content, the game expands only at the very top & it cannot do so elsewhere at the same time.

Getting the early expansions bug-fixed, keying tweaks (like VP was) & keying bottlenecks that block progression, like TBL needed but was not done in time to benefit Selo & Phinigel are about as much as TLP players can realistically expect.

Would be great if they Fixed EOK raid progression before the next round of TLPs makes it because it was absolutely abysmal on the set that juat made it through if we talking about QOL on TLP
