Previously, in the group mission, not going into any aura meant no associated AE at all. That is no longer the case. Now, everyone without the appropriate protector is AEd. The problem is that, unlike in the raid, being protected doesn't strip the protection. The protection always leads to the penalty mechanic for having the wrong protection. Anyone who attempts to protect themselves from fire AE ([Thu Jan 28 21:35:50 2021] You have taken 176577 damage from Roar of Fire by the heart of the temple.) gets fire circles instead ([Thu Jan 28 21:36:49 2021] Teammate has taken 170772 damage from Burnt Echoes by .), guaranteed. Anyone who attempts to protect themselves from stone AE ([Thu Jan 28 21:38:56 2021] Teammate has taken 177077 damage from Roar of Stone by the heart of the temple.) gets boulder-trapped. etc. If there's a darkness emote, then either everyone eats the Roar of Darkness, or everyone gets ported out of the fight area, leashing the boss. These effects are layered on the unavoidable Intruder's Curse dot ([Thu Jan 28 21:35:36 2021] Teammate has taken 89602 damage from Intruder's Curse by the heart of the temple.), and (for at least the tank) Aaryonar's Revoking Breath attack ([Thu Jan 28 21:34:38 2021] You have taken 133835 damage from Revoking Breath by Aaryonar.).
