KEI (Kodiak's Endless Intellect) like DPS (Damage Per Second) are both abbreviations - they aren't meant to be pronounced like an acronym. HOWEVER, if I were to indulge, I'd go with, "Kay" (like the jeweler). I also put 'KEI' into a text > speech translator and it pronounced it the same.
As I read further through this thread, I think the discussion should focus more on how to pronounce Koadic's. It's not Kodiak, like the bear... it's more like Co-Addicts. /duck
On a side note.. /fondly remembers when KEI, DOoFM and CHoS all worked on level 1 characters for a brief time. Out of control overpowered was broken fun. Oddly, the only one of those I ever thought of as a word was the CHoS because friends called it that on Mic.
Kay-ee-eye, but no glottal stops. Like Old McDonald had a farm E-I-E-I-O. But with "Kay-ee-eye" I used to say "Luclin" as "Loose-Lynn" prior to hearing a dev pronounce it as "Luck-Lynn". Now I pronounce it as "Luke-Lynn". I know. I didn't adjust properly. It's just so hard to accept "Luck-Lynn" with my language background.
I think I've been mispronouncing "Aradune" since '99. I used to pronounce it "Air-ya-dune." But it's actually "Air-a-dune" right?
I've been saying it in my head as ara as in arab with dune on the end. So [ara]dune..if that makes any sense...? Hmm true, however my real name is Luke. No one has ever called me loose yet I wonder if Lucas has ever been mispronounced as loose-a**.
Oh and Re: Luclin. When Luclin was in pre-release there was a video with a voice over that pronounced it Luck-lin A letter C is pronounced the same as a K when immediately followed by a consonant. To make it a soft C pronounced the same as "S" requires a following helper vowel. the second L back up the C, thus hardening it.
Soft c/hard c is an interesting "rule". Flaccid and coccyx are fun examples. For all the "Loose Lynn" folks...hypothetically...what would she enter in the c o c k fights in The Overthere?
The first C is hard, like a K, the the second C is followed by a vowel which softens it making the CC string pronounced as an S like Cok-Syx. HEY! You wanna pizza me?
