krono to db bucks

i think the ability to convert krono to db bucks would helps us both

i can get services for my krono (potions/race change/...) and db can get krono off the market

Allowing market place items to be purchased with in game platinum is a bad idea and just gives farmers another incentive to exploit and train people out of popular zones.

This assumes Daybreak still care whether krono are redeemed are not.

Yeah, I don’t think they care. There’s still a ton of people buying Krono directly from DPG. The people with the Krono stash can only do so much with it.

Or, they can not do that, and people will buy DP cash and they get 2x the money!

I wouldn't mind this, personally I'd have "spent" way more krono if that was the case, however, how many people who pay with a credit card for their sub consume krono? We can say they are not counted until they're used but that's probably an income tax thing? They've already got the money and the people taking them out of circulation are probably not the ones usually paying with real money so it's not like consuming a krono "costs" them anything, that account wasn't going to pay anyway. So like Dythan said, double down on krono and dbg bucks and get double the money. Doesn't hurt them that there is a surplus of unspent krono.

The only way I see it atm is that if they do this it drives up demand for krono.

Anyone who already buys db cash will still do so but I have to imagine there is a huge population of people who don't buy the station cash, but this essentially gets them into that market. The. The players that buy krono have more people to sell to and more demand.

The only downside I see is perhaps a small amount of people will stop buying station cash because they earn krono in game easily.

If you keep a Bazaar account it typically will pay for itself and you can bank the free Darkpaw bucks you get each month for next TLP.

The bigger downside is that it gives people who have 100's or 1000's of krono already stockpiled a way to purchase things from the DB store that they would have had to purchase DB cash for otherwise. Of course the whole accounting thing comes into play here, but if it weren't a disadvantage they would have already done it.

I am pretty sure there is an accounting thing that they benefit if the Krono is consumed (realized vs unrealized or something like that). That's why they had that thing a couple years ago where you got an illusion if you consumed a krono.

I think krono would be similar to gift cards. It's definitely a liability, but the goods don't need to be delivered until a later date, and some never ("breakage"). At the end of the day, a company would want to sell the most giftcards/krono but also have as little un-used as possible, from an accounting standpoint.

The elephant in the room to me, however, is that it's very possible they just don't have the means, whether programmers or time, to actually get this "extra" kind of work done. They aren't even able to GM their GM-specific server very well from the looks of consistent posts on this forum.

Remove krono.

There are no TLP servers if you have no Krono. Krono are functioning exactly the way DPG and the earlier companies envisioned them and they support a great deal of the game

Did you enjoy "mysuperplatsales" and 200 other places constantly spamming in game chat channels 24/7 - "buy plat @dodgygeezers.com, great prices, any amount, fast service, safe & secure" (AKA we will steal your cc info too) - before Krono were available?

No, I did not Skuz. My CC info has been safe for almost 22 years of off and on play. Those who lose their info to bad actors is their problem. Easy to handle by screen capture and a report of their spam with an ignore option. I do not see this as a reason to continue to allow RMT by either the trade of krono or payments by other methods. This would also fill a possible niche for a TLP, where krono cannot be used or traded on a specific server "insert name". Those who want to continue to use krono have plenty of other choices.

We could name such a server "Tarbul Earthstrider" (a named Hill giant) since this server would be all about plat farming
